Static deflection modeling of combined flexible beams using elliptic integral solution
International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics, 2021A beam composed of serially connected flexible segments can definitely diversify the option of components for the design of compliant mechanisms. Although the static deflection of such a beam can be considered as the superposition of the deflections of ...

Static deflection of fully coupled composite Timoshenko beams: An exact analytical solution
European Journal of Mechanics, A/Solids, 2020The purpose of this paper is to present the exact analytical solution for the static deflection analysis of fully coupled composite Timoshenko beams. The system of governing equations and the boundary conditions are derived from variational principles ...

Crack Detection in Pipes Using Static Deflection Measurements
Journal of The Institution of Engineers (India): Series C, 2012A method of detection of crack location based on measurement of deflection of long pipes under bending loads is presented in this paper. Crack is considered to be cross-sectional with straight front parallel to its diameter and perpendicular to the plane of deflection. The crack is modelled by a rotational spring whose stiffness can be determined using

Crack identification using wavelets on experimental static deflection profiles
Engineering Structures, 2006In this paper a method to localize damage in a cantilever beam using static deflection is presented. The selection of the wavelet transform for the crack localization is discussed. The efficiency of the applied wavelets is verified by analytically and experimentally determined data.

The measurement of static deflection in spur gear teeth
Journal of Mechanisms, 1970Abstract This paper gives the results of static deflection tests on spur gear teeth made of acrylic. Also, a method is given for determining the dimensions of tapered cantilever beam to replace the actual gear tooth in deflection analysis as proposed by Timoshenko and Baud.
