Static and dynamic flexural strength of 99.5% alumina: Relation to porosity

Mechanics of Materials, 2012
Abstract Advanced ceramic materials are widely implemented in a variety of cutting edge engineering applications. Their dynamic flexural strength is an important property under impact loading conditions. Therefore, this work reports a systematic comparison of static and dynamic flexural strength results for 99.5% commercial alumina, obtained using a ...

Quasi-Static Flexural and Indentation Behaviour of Polymer-Metal Laminate

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Metal-polymer laminates were subjected to quasi-static flexural and indentation loading. The laminates were made of two aluminium skins heat-bonded (laminated) to a core made of polyethylene plastic material. The samples were trimmed into standard-sized beams and panels which were then tested in flexural and indentation using the Instron universal ...

Quasi-static and Modal Analysis of Bridge-Type Compliant Mechanism with Flexure Hinges

2013 Second International Conference on Robot, Vision and Signal Processing, 2013
Displacement amplification ratio and input stiffness are significant design characteristics for an ultra-precision positioning flexure-based compliant mechanism. Early and accurate performance prediction models can significantly improve the reliability and availability of product in the field of ultra-precision positioning, but Existing theoretic ...

Flexural Static Energy of Steel Fiber Rubberized Concrete Beams with Layered Distribution

2018 11th International Conference on Developments in eSystems Engineering (DeSE), 2018
In this study, an investigation on the effect of crumb rubber aggregate on flexural performance of plain and steel fiber concrete was presented. Two replacement volumes of sand by crumb rubber were selected as 5% and 15%. The content of steel fiber in fibrous concrete was 0.5% (39 kg/m3).

Static and dynamic analysis of arbitrary quadrilateral flexural plates by B3-spline functions

International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1994
Abstract This paper presents static and free vibration analysis of arbitrary quadrilateral flexural plates by B3-spline functions. An actual arbitrary quadrilateral thin flat plate is mapped onto a square basic plate and a superelement is constructed for the whole plate.

Quasi-Static Flexural and Tensile Behavior of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
In this paper, glass fiber reinforce polymer subject to quasi-static three point bending loading and tensile loading was studied experimentally. Glass fiber reinforced made of chopped strand mat (CSM) were used in this study. Several samples were prepared and tested by using Instron universal testing machine at different strain rate including 1mm/min ...

A Method for Determining the Flexural Effects of Statically Loaded Beams on Multiple Elastic Supports

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1956
Abstract Herein is presented a means for calculating the static deflections, slopes, moments, and shears of a nonuniform beam on two supports for any end conditions and on three simple supports when subjected to concentrated loads and/or concentrated moments.
