Pressure strengthening: A way to multimegabar static pressures

Physical Review B, 1995
This paper shows why a static pressure of several megabars can be reached in a diamond anvil cell using a molybdenum gasket whose yield strength at P=0 is only 0.04 Mbars. The elastic constants of bcc Mo at 0 K vs reduced volume and pressure were otained from first-principle, all-electron, density-functional calculations to V/${\mathit{V}}_{0}$=0.4 (P ...

Maximal static pressures in healthy children

Respiration Physiology, 1983
Maximal static pressures (Pmax) were measured at the mouth in 119 Caucasian school children aged 7-13 years. Lung volumes were determined by body plethysmography. Pressures were generated near RV, at FRC and near TLC. As in adults, inspiratory Pmax decreased with increasing lung volume, whereas expiratory Pmax increased.

A piezoelectric bimorph static pressure sensor

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 1995
Abstract In this paper we describe a new resonance piezoelectric sensor for pressure measurement. The active element is a cheap piezoceramic membrane of the type used in piezoelectric 'buzzers' and telephone receivers. The membrane is elastically supported all around by gluing its border to the edge of a rigid closed chamber.

Nitromethane Decomposition under High Static Pressure

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2010
The room-temperature pressure-induced reaction of nitromethane has been studied by means of infrared spectroscopy in conjunction with ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. The evolution of the IR spectrum during the reaction has been monitored at 32.2 and 35.5 GPa performing the measurements in a diamond anvil cell.

A Study on Static Calibration Method for Pressure Sensor Based on Static Pressure Calibration Device

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
In this paper, a static pressure calibration device is designed and the method of static calibration with piezoelectric pressure sensors is discussed. According to the theory of PASCAL law, the static calibration device is developed, whose stress ratio is up to 1:25. And this device has been accredited by the authorities.

Static and Dynamic Pressure — Volume Curves

2000
The pressure volume (P/V) curve of the respiratory system has been used for many years to describe the mechanical characteristics of the lungs in the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) [1–3] and more recently as a guide to modify the ventilatory settings at the bedside and limit lung damage related to mechanical ventilation [4–8].

Measurement of Static Pressure

Transactions of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 1926
Abstract The paper describes a new instrument for measuring static pressures in air-flow determinations. Made in the form of concentric brass tubes, the outer of which is 1/4 in. diameter, the instrument is easily introduced into air ducts through small openings, such as a bolt hole.

Acoustic Static Bottomhole Pressures

SPE Production Operations Symposium, 1985
ABSTRACT Acoustic instruments have been used routinely for many years as an aid in analyzing well performance of normal-pressure oil producers.1 Recent developments in equipment and techniques now permit more-accurate calculations of acoustic static bottomhole pressures at surface pressures up to 15,000 psi in corrosive ...
