Static Compaction Test and Determination of Equivalent Static Pressure

2018
Soil compaction is a vital part of the construction process. The compaction curve between moisture content and dry unit weight should be prepared for all types of soil in the project area, before earthwork commences as it forms the basis for specification and field compaction control. The relationship between moisture content and dry unit weight of the

Characteristics of static pressure on the ground

Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, 2001
Abstract When wind pressures on a building in natural wind are estimated, a static pressure measured with a manhole, a Pitot static tube, or a static tube of the disk type, has been used as the reference pressure. However, there are a few studies on the detailed characteristics of the static pressure itself in natural wind.

Intrinsic PEEP on static pressure-volume curves

Intensive Care Medicine, 1990
The static pressure volume (PV) curve of the total respiratory system is a well established method to assess pulmonary mechanics during respiratory failure. We have tested the impact of auto-PEEP on the PV curve determination in 16 COPD patients. An isovolumic pressure increment (IPI) was found at the beginning of the curve and a close correlation ...

The effect of static pressure on the inertial cavitation threshold

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2012
The amplitude of the acoustic pressure required to nucleate a gas or vapor bubble in a fluid, and to have that bubble undergo an inertial collapse, is termed the inertial cavitation threshold. The magnitude of the inertial cavitation threshold is typically limited by mechanisms other than homogeneous nucleation such that the theoretical maximum is ...

The dependence of sonoluminescence on static pressure

British Journal of Applied Physics, 1965
The effect of excess static pressure, applied by gas and also hydraulically, on sonoluminescence from water has been investigated in the range 0-100 lb in-2. An optimum value of hydraulically applied pressure for maximum yield of sonoluminescence and a higher pressure value at which luminescence was almost suppressed were established.

Static ultrahigh‐pressure research

Reviews of Geophysics, 1983
Research in geophysics has advanced so that calibrated experiments can be done to static pressures as high as 1.7 Mbar at 4000 K. Part of this review references new experimental techniques to generate ultrahigh pressures, to calibrate the pressures, and to conduct in situ physical measurements.

Inertial cavitation threshold dependence on static pressure.

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2010
It is well known from observations in the ocean, as well as limited experimental measurements and theoretical predictions for spherical bubbles, that the threshold acoustic pressure for generation of inertial cavitation increases with hydrostatic pressure.

Measurement of Tracheal Static Pressure in Exercising Horses

Veterinary Surgery, 1992
A nasotracheal catheter for measuring tracheal static pressure in exercising horses was designed according to aerodynamic engineering principles. Small ports near the end of the catheter transmitted pressure fluctuations to the recording apparatus. Accuracy was determined by the size, number, and location of pressure sensing holes on the catheter, and ...

The static pressure in a vortex core

The Aeronautical Journal, 1979
Vortices are of interest in many situations in fluid mechanics. One type of vortex with which the gas turbine designer is concerned is the line vortex springing like a miniature tornado from a point on the ground (or from a nearby aircraft surface) and entering the engine intake. It is possible for these vortices to suck stones up into the engine (Refs.

Urethral Static Pressure Profile

1983
Relief of prostatic obstruction is usually recommended in patients with prostatic enlargement who have had episodes of urinary retention and who have a dilated upper urinary tract, large residual urine volume, urinary tract infections, and vesical calculi. However, the decision to perform prostatic surgery without further evaluation may be debated when
