Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Static strength of doubler plate reinforced tubular T/Y-joints subjected to brace compressive loading: Study of geometrical effects and parametric formulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this study, the ultimate strength, initial stiffness, and failure mechanisms of tubular T/Y-joints reinforced with doubler plate under axially compressive load are numerically investigated.

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.

The Effects of Static Stretching Intensity on Range of Motion and Strength: A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Functional Morphology and Kinesiology, 2023
The aim of this study was to systematically review the evidence on the outcomes of using different intensities of static stretching on range of motion (ROM) and strength.

The Shear Strength of Granular Materials with Dispersed and Non-Dispersed Oversized Particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Soils containing dispersed and non-dispersed large particles (greater than # 4 sieve) form part of many engineered fills, glacial tills, debris flows, and residual soil deposits.

The influence of membranes on tests of coarse-grained materials at low cell pressures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In triaxial tests on small specimens of sands/silts and clays, cell pressures are usually greater than 100 kPa and membranes are relatively thin (~0.3 mm).

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

EXAMINATION OF EFFECTS OF DEVELOPMENT GYMNASTICS TEACHING OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION ON STATIC STRENGTH OF 3TH & 4TH GRADE PUPILS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS [PDF]

open access: yesSport Mont, 2011
In this work, the subject of the research is only one segment of the anthropological area, which refers to the appearance of appropriate motor abilities-coordination.

Method for static divergence analysis of sting-mounted wind tunnel models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Occurrence of static divergence will result in a catastrophic failure of wind tunnel models supported13; on sting or other types of support . The report presents an analysis method that can be used to design and/or13; verify the design of a model-balance-

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...
