Excellent combinations of strength and impact toughness are obtained in a bilayer composite of high‐strength carbide‐free bainitic (CFB) steel and high‐ductility twinning‐induced plasticity (TWIP) steel. The composite absorbs energy at small strains when the notch is placed on the TWIP side and at high strains when the notch is placed on the CFB side ...

Fatigue limit assessment by energetic analyses in static and cyclic tensile tests
Abstract Inside a research program agreed with the AIAS-MEAS Energy Methods Group, this preliminary study starts defining the fatigue parameters of a commercial steel in static and cyclic loading conditions. The final purpose of the research is to define the fatigue limits in different loading conditions using different energetic methodologies and ...

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting
