Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

THE EVALUATION OF THE EFFECT OF REACTIVE POWER COMPENSATION IN ELECTRIC POWER LOSSES IN ELECTRIC NETWORK OF RAILWAY JUNCTION

open access: yesNauka ta progres transportu, 2009
In this work the generalized mathematical model of an electrical network of the electrified railway junction is proposed. An estimation of influence of static var compensators installation on electric power losses in a network is executed on the basis of

Coordinated Volt/VAR Control in Distribution Networks Considering Demand Response via Safe Deep Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesEnergies
Volt–VAR control (VVC) is essential in maintaining voltage stability and operational efficiency in distribution networks, particularly with the increasing integration of distributed energy resources. Traditional methods often struggle to manage real-time

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Adaptive Wide-Area Control of Power Systems Through Dynamic Load Modulating SVCs

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
This paper presents an adaptive wide-area control strategy based on energy function. The proposed method enhances the post-fault oscillation damping capability of Static Var Compensators (SVC) by incorporating load dynamics in the wide-area controller ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Enhanced performance of substation dynamics during large induction motor starting using SVC

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2018
Static Var Compensators (SVC) have been widely used to separately improve each of voltage variation performance and steady state power factor of industrial substations. However, these two functions are interdependent, power factor improvement tends to do
