Polymeric Sorbents as Energy‐Efficient Alternative to Cryogenic Distillation for Light Hydrocarbon Purification

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The transition from cryogenic distillation to polymeric sorbents for light hydrocarbon purification is crucial for energy and environmental sustainability. The polymeric sorbents are engineered to separate gas mixtures based on their specific properties.

Preparation and chromatographic evaluation of a cysteine-bonded zwitterionic hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography stationary phase

open access: yes, 2012
A cysteine-bonded zwitterionic hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC) stationary phase (Click TE-Cys) was prepared based on the "thiol-ene" click chemistry.

Specific Position of Halogen in Crystalline TADF Scintillators Enables Efficient Triplet Harvesting Through Vibrational Modulation of Spin–Orbit Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Specific ortho‐halogenation transforms crystalline TADF emitters into efficient organic scintillators. Fluorine reduces the effective singlet–triplet separation, while chlorine combines near‐degenerate excited states with vibrational modulation of spin–orbit coupling.

Noise‐Tunable Memristor Enabling Programmable Probabilistic Neurons for Frequency‐Selective Time‐Series Signal Encoding

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Memristors offer tunable resistance and intrinsic instability, making them promising tunable noise sources. We propose a spiking‐rate‐programmable probabilistic neuron using a Ru/TaOx/Pt memristor, where resistance‐dependent noise enables frequency‐selective encoding.

Stationary patterns of coherence and incoherence in two-dimensional arrays of non-locally coupled phase oscillators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Recently it has been shown that large arrays of identical oscillators with non-local coupling can have a remarkable type of solutions that display a stationary macroscopic pattern of coexisting regions with coherent and incoherent motion, often caled ...

Flax Composites With Improved Interfacial Strength Through Microbially Induced Mineral Precipitation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A bio‐inspired biomineralization strategy introduces an additional hierarchy to flax fiber composites. By controlling microbe‐mediated mineral particle deposition through tuned salt concentrations, stress transfer within the natural fiber composite is enhanced.

Spatial Control of Light‐Responsive Proteins and Optogenetics Within Hydrogels via Volumetric Bioprinting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Spatiotemporal control over cell behavior within bioprinted constructs remains a key challenge in biofabrication. Volumetric bioprinting using multi‐wavelength light sources permits to activate light‐sensitive intracellular proteins as well as optogenetic gene and protein expression circuits in bioprinted cells, in addition to enabling fast printing of

Thermally immobilized cellulose acetate butyrate on silica particles as stationary phase for high-performance liquid chromatography

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências
Reversed-phase liquid chromatography is the most widely used analytical technique nowadays. However, it generates a large volume of toxic organic residues and presents poor separations of small polar molecules in traditional stationary phases.

Wearable Morphology‐Adaptive in‐Ear Device With Active Cleansing Capability for Multimodal Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We present SCIENCE, an in‐ear multimodal physiological monitor featuring two key innovations. Water‐triggered morphological expansion (a 2‐mm cylinder to a 9‐mm spindle) achieves conformal adaptation across complex canal geometries. Simultaneously, active biofouling mitigation disrupts cerumen barriers, reducing sensor‐skin impedance by 20%.
