Cosmic statistics of statistics [PDF]
The errors on statistics measured in finite galaxy catalogs are exhaustively investigated. The theory of errors on factorial moments by Szapudi & Colombi (1996) is applied to cumulants via a series expansion method. All results are subsequently extended to the weakly non-linear regime.

Abandon Statistical Significance [PDF]
We discuss problems the null hypothesis significance testing (NHST) paradigm poses for replication and more broadly in the biomedical and social sciences as well as how these problems remain unresolved by proposals involving modified p-value thresholds ...

Statistics is a science that provides precise techniques for collecting and sorting information made easy by tools and methods for further analysis. The object of descriptive statistics, from sample data, is to describe the most important characteristics, by which we refer to those amounts that provide information on the topic of interest which we are ...

Towards the Automatic Estimation of Time Delays of Gravitational Lenses
Estimation of time delays from a noisy and gapped data is one of the simplest data analysis problems in astronomy by its formulation. But as history of real experiments show, the work with observed datasets can be quite complex and evolved.

Semiclassical Statistical Mechanics [PDF]
We use a semiclassical approximation to derive the partition function for an arbitrary potential in one-dimensional Quantum Statistical Mechanics, which we view as an example of finite temperature scalar Field Theory at a point.
