Soil erosion modelling: A global review and statistical analysis

open access: yesScience of the Total Environment, 2020
To gain a better understanding of the global application of soil erosion prediction models, we comprehensively reviewed relevant peer-reviewed research literature on soil-erosion modelling published between 1994 and 2017.

Geographic variation in walking activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examined whether there is geographic variation in field populations, focusing on the moving activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. Results showed significant differences in moving activity among field populations but no correlation with latitude or meteorological factors.

Prediction of metal ion ligand binding residues by adding disorder value and propensity factors based on deep learning algorithm

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2022
Proteins need to interact with different ligands to perform their functions. Among the ligands, the metal ion is a major ligand. At present, the prediction of protein metal ion ligand binding residues is a challenge. In this study, we selected Zn2+, Cu2+,

occumb: An R package for site occupancy modeling of eDNA metabarcoding data

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study introduces a new R package, occumb, for the convenient application of site occupancy modeling using environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding data. We outline a data analysis workflow, including data setup, model fitting, model assessment, and comparison of potential study settings based on model predictions, all of which can be performed using

Recognition of Metal Ion Ligand-Binding Residues by Adding Correlation Features and Propensity Factors

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2022
The realization of many protein functions is inseparable from the interaction with ligands; in particular, the combination of protein and metal ion ligands performs an important biological function.

Social context prevents heat hormetic effects against mutagens during fish development

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows that sublethal heat stress protects fish embryos against ultraviolet radiation, a concept known as ‘hormesis’. However, chemical stress transmission between fish embryos negates this protective effect. By providing evidence for the mechanistic molecular basis of heat stress hormesis and interindividual stress communication, this study ...

Federated Learning Based on Kernel Local Differential Privacy and Low Gradient Sampling

open access: yesIEEE Access
Federated learning that is an approach to addressing the “data silo” problem in a collaborative fashion may face the risk of data leakage in real-world contexts.
