Korovkin Second Theorem via -Statistical -Summability

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
Korovkin type approximation theorems are useful tools to check whether a given sequence of positive linear operators on of all continuous functions on the real interval is an approximation process.

Approximations for multivariate U-statistics

open access: yesJournal of Multivariate Analysis, 1987
Let \(X_ 1,X_ 2,..\). be independent, identically distributed random variables with values in a measurable space (\({\mathcal X},{\mathcal F})\) and let \(H: {\mathcal X}\times {\mathcal X}\to {\mathbb{R}}^ k\) be measurable and symmetric. The author derives a Berry-Esseen type approximation and an Edgeworth expansion of order up to \(o(N^{-})\) of the

Statistically Driven Sparse Image Approximation [PDF]

open access: yes2007 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2007
Finding the sparsest approximation of an image as a sum of basis functions drawn from a redundant dictionary is an NP-hard problem. In the case of a dictionary whose elements form an overcomplete basis, a recently developed method, based on alternating thresholding and projection operations, provides an appealing approximate solution.

Association Between Individualized Education for Kidney Replacement Therapy Modality Selection and Peritoneal Dialysis Initiation: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an established home‐based kidney replacement therapy (KRT), but its uptake remains low in Japan. We evaluated whether individualized education in a dedicated outpatient clinic was associated with the initiation of PD.

A Korovkin Type Approximation Theorem and Its Applications

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
We present a Korovkin type approximation theorem for a sequence of positive linear operators defined on the space of all real valued continuous and periodic functions via A-statistical approximation, for the rate of the third order Ditzian-Totik modulus ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

STATISTICAL APPROXIMATION FOR PERIODIC FUNCTIONS

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica, 2003
Let \(A:=(a_{nk})\), \(n,k=1,2,\dots\), be a nonnegative regular summability matrix. The sequence \(x:=\{x_k\}\) is called \(A\)-statistically convergent to \(L\), notation \(st_A-\lim x_n=L\), if for every \(\epsilon>0\), \[ \lim_{n\to\infty}\sum_{| x_k-L| \geq\epsilon}a_{nk}=0.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
