Using TeX Markup Language for 3D and 2D Geological Plotting

open access: yesFoundations of Computing and Decision Sciences, 2021
The paper presents technical application of TeX high-level, descriptive markup language for processing geological dataset from soil laboratory. Geotechnical measurements included equivalent soil cohesion, absolute and absolute deformation index, soil ...

Graphics for uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Graphical methods such as colour shading and animation, which are widely available, can be very effective in communicating uncertainty. In particular, the idea of a ‘density strip’ provides a conceptually simple representation of a distribution and this ...

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Graphics Processing Units and High-Dimensional Optimization

open access: yes, 2010
This paper discusses the potential of graphics processing units (GPUs) in high-dimensional optimization problems. A single GPU card with hundreds of arithmetic cores can be inserted in a personal computer and dramatically accelerates many statistical ...

rbrothers: R Package for Bayesian Multiple Change-Point Recombination Detection. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Phylogenetic recombination detection is a fundamental task in bioinformatics and evolutionary biology. Most of the computational tools developed to attack this important problem are not integrated into the growing suite of R packages for statistical ...

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

ACCELERATED ITERATIVE RECONSTRUCTION OF PHANTOM «ROZI» BY OS-SART METHOD USING ORDERED SUBSET PROJECTIONS

open access: yesСистемный анализ и прикладная информатика, 2017
The statistical maximum likelihood (EM) method and the algebraic reconstruction method with simultaneous iterations (SART) are two methods of iterative tomographic reconstruction.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

The similarity dimension of the random iterated function system [PDF]

open access: yesКомпьютерные исследования и моделирование, 2012
In this paper we consider the properties of the random iterated function systems (RIFS) obtained using a generalization of the Chaos game algorithm. Used for the RIFS simulation R is a free software environment for statistical computing and graphics. The

Higgs transitions of spin ice

open access: yes, 2011
Frustrated magnets such as spin ice exhibit Coulomb phases, where correlations have power-law forms at long distances. Applied perturbations can cause ordering transitions which cannot be described by the usual Landau paradigm, and are instead naturally ...
