Parallel Treebanks in Phrase-Based Statistical Machine Translation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Given much recent discussion and the shift in focus of the field, it is becoming apparent that the incorporation of syntax is the way forward for the current state-of-the-art in machine translation (MT).

Non-projective parsing for statistical machine translation [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2009 Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing Volume 1 - EMNLP '09, 2009
We describe a novel approach for syntaxbased statistical MT, which builds on a variant of tree adjoining grammar (TAG). Inspired by work in discriminative dependency parsing, the key idea in our approach is to allow highly flexible reordering operations during parsing, in combination with a discriminative model that can condition on rich features of ...

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

A Client mobile application for Chinese-Spanish statistical machine translation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This show and tell paper describes a client mobile application for Chinese-Spanish machine translation. The system combines a standard server-based statistical machine translation (SMT) system, which requires online operation, with different input ...

Raphin‐1 mediates the survival and sensitivity to radiation of pediatric‐type diffuse high‐grade glioma via phosphorylated eukaryotic initiation factor 2α‐dependent and ‐independent processes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Raphin‐1 reduces the survival of PED‐DHGG cells and enhances their radiation sensitivity through both PeIF2α‐dependent and PeIF2α‐independent mechanisms. Raphin‐1 sustains elevated levels of PeIF2α, contributing to its PeIF2α‐dependent effects. Additionally, raphin‐1 interacts with CReP to mediate a separate radiosensitizing pathway that operates ...

Machine translation and Welsh: Analysing free statistical machine translation for the professional translation of an under-researched language pair

open access: yesJoSTrans: The Journal of Specialised Translation, 2017
This article reports on a key-logging study carried out to test the benefits of post-editing Machine Translation (MT) for the professional translator within a hypothetico-deductive framework, contrasting the outcomes of a number of variables which are ...

Targeting carbonic anhydrase IX/XII prevents the anti‐ferroptotic effect of stromal lactic acid in prostate carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In prostate carcinoma, lactic acid, secreted by highly glycolytic cancer‐associated fibroblasts, is imported into tumor cells through the MCT1 transporter and prevents RSL3 and erastin‐induced ferroptosis (A). Targeting of carbonic anhydrase IX/XII, the main extracellular pH regulators, in tumor and stromal cells reduces microenvironmental acidosis and

Translation model pruning via usage statistics for statistical machine translation [PDF]

open access: yesHuman Language Technologies 2007: The Conference of the North American Chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics; Companion Volume, Short Papers on XX - NAACL '07, 2007
We describe a new pruning approach to remove phrase pairs from translation models of statistical machine translation systems. The approach applies the original translation system to a large amount of text and calculates usage statistics for the phrase pairs. Using these statistics the relevance of each phrase pair can be estimated.

Machine learning for identifying liver and pancreas cancers through comprehensive serum glycopeptide spectra analysis: a case‐control study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel AI‐based diagnostic approach—comprehensive serum glycopeptide spectra analysis (CSGSA)—that integrates tumor markers and enriched glycopeptides from serum. Using a neural network model, this method accurately distinguishes liver and pancreatic cancers from healthy individuals.
