The impact of strictly protected areas in a deforestation hotspot

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, 2021
Protected areas are often thought of as a key conservation strategy for avoiding deforestation and retaining biodiversity; therefore, it is crucial to know how effective they are at achieving this purpose.

Semiglobal Matching Results on the ISPRS Stereo Matching Benchmark

open access: yes, 2011
Digital surface models can be efficiently generated with automatic image matching from optical stereo images. The Working Group 4 of Commission I on "Geometric and Radiometric Modelling of Optical Spaceborne Sensors" provides a matching benchmark ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Error Analysis for RADAR Neighbor Matching Localization in Linear Logarithmic Strength Varying Wi-Fi Environment

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
This paper studies the statistical errors for the fingerprint-based RADAR neighbor matching localization with the linearly calibrated reference points (RPs) in logarithmic received signal strength (RSS) varying Wi-Fi environment.

Threshold detection: matching statistical methodology to ecological questions and conservation planning objectives

open access: yesAvian Conservation and Ecology, 2015
Two types of ecological thresholds are now being widely used to develop conservation targets: breakpoint-based thresholds represent tipping points where system properties change dramatically, whereas classification thresholds identify groups of data ...

ESTIMATION OF MATCHING OF OPTIMAL DYNAMIC SPECTRAL FILTRATION IN ELECTRO-OPTICAL SYSTEM OF TARGET DETECTION [PDF]

open access: yesРадиофизика и электроника, 2018
The article is devoted to the study of the properties of the electro-optical systems with matched spectral dynamic filtration. It is usually supposed that the optimal optical signal detector is synthesized under the assumption of a priori information ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Probability matching and statistical naïveté

open access: yesJudgment and Decision Making
People often probability match: they select choices based on the probability of outcomes. For example, when predicting 10 individual results of a spinner with 7 green and 3 purple sections, many people choose green mostly but not always, even though they

Classification of Gravity Matching Areas Using PSO-BP Neural Networks based on PCA and Satellite Altimetry Data over the Western Pacific

open access: yesSensors, 2022
For inertial navigation systems (INS), as one of the major methods for underwater navigation, errors diverge over time. With the development of geophysical navigation technology, gravity navigation has become an effective method of navigation ...
