The Statistical Mechanics of Stretched Polymers [PDF]
We describe some recent results concerning the statistical properties of a self-interacting polymer stretched by an external force. We concentrate mainly on the cases of purely attractive or purely repulsive self-interactions, but our results are stable ...

Statistical mechanics of semiflexible polymers [PDF]
We present the statistical-mechanical theory of semiflexible polymers based on the connection between the Kratky-Porod model and the quantum rigid rotator in an external homogeneous field, and treatment of the latter using the quantum mechanical ...

Knots, links, anyons and statistical mechanics of entangled polymer rings [PDF]
The field theory approach to the statistical mechanics of a system of N polymer rings linked together is extended to the case of links whose paths in space are characterized by a fixed number 2s of maxima and minima.

Insight in thermomechanical constitutive modeling of shape memory polymers
Shape memory polymers (SMPs) are a new member of the smart materials family. SMPs have found wide applications or potential applications in almost all manmade structures and devices.

Statistical Mechanics of Confined Polymer Networks [PDF]
We show how the theory of the critical behaviour of $d$-dimensional polymer networks of arbitrary topology can be generalized to the case of networks confined by hyperplanes. This in particular encompasses the case of a single polymer chain in a bridge configuration.

Statistical Damage Mechanics of Polymer Networks [PDF]
The macroscopic mechanical response of polymers can be traced down to the microscale physics of the network by using a statistical approach for the description of the configuration state of the polymer chains. In this paper we present a micromechanical model to capture the macroscopic behavior of polymers by tracking the evolution of a distribution ...

Statistical mechanics of double-helical polymers [PDF]
We introduce a simple geometric model for a double-stranded and double-helical polymer. We study the statistical mechanics of such polymers using both analytical techniques and simulation. Our model has a single energy-scale which determines both the bending and twisting rigidity of the polymer.

Statistical Analysis of Polymer Nanocomposites for Mechanical Properties [PDF]
Epoxy resins, due to their high stiffness, ease of processing, good heat, and chemical resistance obtained from cross-linked structures, have found applications in electronics, adhesives coatings, industrial tooling, and aeronautic and automotive industries. These resins are inherently brittle, which has limited their further application.
