Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Statistical measures for evaluation of methods for syndromic surveillance

open access: yes, 2003
Introduction In syndromic surveillance there is a need for continual observation of one or more time series, with the goal of detecting an important change in the underlying process as soon as possible after it has occurred.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Application of statistical methods in various disciplines

open access: yes, 2019
As Leonardo da Vinci once said, “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” This book is evidence of how diverse problems can be solved using basic statistical methods; from the minute molecule level to widespread epidemic issues, data analysis can be ...

Exponential family models and statistical genetics

open access: yes, 2000
This article describes the evolution of applied exponential family models, starting at 1972, the year of publication of the seminal papers on generalized linear models and on Cox regression, and leading to multivariate (i) marginal models and inference ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Statistical methods for modeling floods in South Australia

open access: yes, 2011
The statistical methods which are helpful in organizing and presenting the random variables are widely used in regional flood modeling. This paper presents the selected statistical methods that are used in regional flood frequency analysis and developing

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
