Sailing the Deep Blue Sea of Decaying Burgers Turbulence

open access: yes, 1999
We study Lagrangian trajectories and scalar transport statistics in decaying Burgers turbulence. We choose velocity fields, solutions of the inviscid Burgers equation, whose probability distributions are specified by Kida's statistics.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Estimation of Threshold Effect of Kenyan Shilling Exchange Rate on Rwandan Economy: A Semiparametric Model Approach

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics
The exchange rate is an important variable in international trade which is used as a parameter to determine a country’s international competitiveness and indicates the position of the country’s economy. A change in the exchange rate of the Kenya shilling

The Holling Type II Population Model Subjected to Rapid Random Attacks of Predator

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2018
We present the analysis of a mathematical model of the dynamics of interacting predator and prey populations with the Holling type random trophic function under the assumption of random time interval passage between predator attacks on prey. We propose a

Intruder States and their Local Effect on Spectral Statistics

open access: yes, 1997
The effect on spectral statistics and on the revival probability of intruder states in a random background is analysed numerically and with perturbative methods.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Gaussian Volterra processes with power-type kernels. Part I

open access: yesModern Stochastics: Theory and Applications, 2022
The stochastic process of the form \[ {X_{t}}={\int _{0}^{t}}{s^{\alpha }}\left({\int _{s}^{t}}{u^{\beta }}{(u-s)^{\gamma }}\hspace{0.1667em}du\right)\hspace{0.1667em}d{W_{s}}\] is considered, where W is a standard Wiener process, $\alpha >-\frac{1}{

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Stability Estimates for Finite-Dimensional Distributions of Time-Inhomogeneous Markov Chains

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
This paper is devoted to the study of the stability of finite-dimensional distribution of time-inhomogeneous, discrete-time Markov chains on a general state space.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...
