Treatment Level and Store Level Analyses of Healthcare Data

open access: yesRisks, 2019
The presented research discusses general approaches to analyze and model healthcare data at the treatment level and at the store level. The paper consists of two parts: (1) a general analysis method for store-level product sales of an organization and (2)

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

STANCE: a unified statistical model to detect cell-type-specific spatially variable genes in spatial transcriptomics

open access: yesNature Communications
One of the major challenges in spatial transcriptomics is to detect spatially variable genes (SVGs), whose expression patterns are non-random across tissue locations.

Positive Correlation between Normal Serum Gastrin Concentrations and Antral and Duodenal G Cells

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology, 1994
It is controversial whether there is a correlation between serum gastrin concentrations and the density of G cells in the antral or duodenal mucosa. In this study, endoscopically obtained antral and duodenal biopsies were stained immunocytochemically for

Unconditionally Secure Ciphers with a Short Key for a Source with Unknown Statistics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
We consider the problem of constructing an unconditionally secure cipher with a short key for the case where the probability distribution of encrypted messages is unknown.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Estimation of Threshold Effect of Kenyan Shilling Exchange Rate on Rwandan Economy: A Semiparametric Model Approach

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics
The exchange rate is an important variable in international trade which is used as a parameter to determine a country’s international competitiveness and indicates the position of the country’s economy. A change in the exchange rate of the Kenya shilling

Probability via Expectation Measures [PDF]

open access: yes
Since the seminal work of Kolmogorov, probability theory has been based on measure theory, where the central components are so-called probability measures, defined as measures with total mass equal to 1.
