Convective condensation in a stator–rotor–stator spinning disc reactor
AIChE Journal, 2016Centrifugal intensification of condensation heat transfer in the rotor–stator cavities of a stator–rotor–stator spinning disc reactor (srs‐SDR) is studied, as a function of rotational velocity ω, volumetric throughflow rate , and average temperature driving force .

Analysis of Rotor-Rotor and Stator-Stator Interferences in Multi-Stage Turbomachines
Journal of Turbomachinery, 2002A nonlinear harmonic methodology is adopted to analyze interactions between adjacent stages in multi-stage compressors. Of particular interest are the effects of circumferential “aperiodic” distributions and the relative circumferential positioning (‘clocking’) of blades.

An analytical investigation of stator lean on rotor–stator interaction noise
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part G: Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2014This paper concentrates on the noise reduction effect of stator lean in rotor–stator interaction. The compressor with a serial stator-blade lean angle has been employed to acoustically test and numerically calculate. The experiment results show that stator-leaned positive has better effect on noise reduction than leaned negative; the tone noise is ...

Development of Laminated Seals for Stator-Stator Sealing in Gas Turbines
Volume 5C: Heat Transfer, 2015This paper describes the development of laminated seals for stator-stator sealing in gas turbines. Cloth seals were introduced as stator-stator seals in the 1990’s and resulted in a significant improvement in sealing performance over the rigid seals then in service.

Identification of the active resistances of the stator of an induction motor with stator windings dissymmetry [PDF]
The article deals with an equation obtained for determining an active resistance of the stator phase. The equation consists of the ratio of the mean values of the current and voltage integral functions in the steady-state operating mode. We substantiated the possibility of using this method for parametric asymmetry of an induction motor caused by a ...

Partial discharge tests can determine which motor and generator stator windings are experiencing insulation problems. A deteriorated winding has a PD activity which can be 30 times or more higher than a winding in good condition. This great difference in PD activity enables even nonspecialized maintenance personnel to identify the few motors or ...

Comparison of partitioned stator machines with different PM excitation stator topologies
2015 Tenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER), 2015The partitioned stator (PS) machine adopts two stators to allocate coils and permanent magnets (PMs) separately, which can increase the space for PMs and coils to boost the electromagnetic torque and to improve the thermal condition of PMs which are on the stator. In this paper, the PS switched flux PM machine and PS flux reversal PM machine are proved

Reduction of Compressor Stator Endwall Losses Through the Use of Bowed Stators
Volume 1: Turbomachinery, 1995The growth of suction surface corner separation in multistage compressor stators is shown to limit the pressure rise capability of core flow stator sections, which would otherwise remain unseparated at the same incident flow. Three dimensional CFD modeling of the stator flowfield has led to the development of “bowed” stator shapes which are predicted ...

Effect of Rotor Tip Speed and Stator Sweep on Rotor-Stator Interaction
Volume 5: Turbo Expo 2004, Parts A and B, 2004Data taken in the Source Diagnostic Test of the unsteady pressure on a fan-exit guide vane is analyzed to identify the dominant noise producing regions on the vane. The dominant noise source regions of the vane are identified as the outer fifty percent span of the vane.

Intensification of convective heat transfer in a stator–rotor–stator spinning disc reactor
AIChE Journal, 2015A stator–rotor–stator spinning disc reactor is presented, which aims at intensification of convective heat‐transfer rates for chemical conversion processes. Single phase fluid‐rotor heat‐transfer coefficients hr are presented for rotor angular velocities rad s−1 and volumetric throughflow rates m3s−1.
