Partial discharge tests can determine which motor and generator stator windings are experiencing insulation problems. A deteriorated winding has a PD activity which can be 30 times or more higher than a winding in good condition. This great difference in PD activity enables even nonspecialized maintenance personnel to identify the few motors or ...

A Brushless Doubly Fed Machine with Separated Field and Armature Windings in Dual Stators
International Electric Machines and Drives Conference, 2019In wind energy conversion systems, the doubly fed induction generator was popular due to reduced cost and control flexibility. Unfortunately, the brushes and slip rings degrade reliability and increase maintenance cost.

Failure analysis of general stator and uniform wall thickness stator
Engineering Failure Analysis, 2018Abstract Stator lining of positive displacement motor (PDM) is prone to generate thermal fatigue failure because of viscoelastic hysteresis of the rubber material. Based on the thermo-mechanical coupling modeling and rubber material testing, finite element method was used to study the effect of environment temperature and thermo-viscoelastic ...

The chapter deals with stator winding faults. Assessments of different types of stator winding fault are discussed in this chapter. Both steady-state and transient current-based diagnosis are covered. Sequence component-based stator fault diagnosis is presented. Park plane is sometime used for fault diagnosis.

Design rules for Stators with Flux Barriers
International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2019This paper presents design rules for stators with flux barriers to increase the power density of machines with concentrated windings while reducing the losses. The rules are used for new winding and stator designs. The results obtained by FEM simulations

Partitioned Stator Flux Reversal Machine With Consequent-Pole PM Stator
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2015In this paper, partitioned stator flux reversal permanent magnet (PS-FRPM) machines having different stator/rotor pole combinations with consequent-pole PM (CPM) stator are proposed and analyzed. Compared with the conventional 12-stator-pole PS-FRPM machines having 10-, 11-, 13-, and 14-rotor-pole rotors and surface-mounted PM (SPM) stator, the PM ...

Time-Space Spectral Method for Rotor–Rotor/Stator–Stator Interactions
Journal of Turbomachinery, 2019AbstractThe paper presents a time-space spectral method for an efficient analysis of rotor–rotor/stator–stator interactions in the framework of the time spectral form harmonic balance method. The method treats time and space harmonics in a coherent way and allows for easy choice of time and passage through the introduction of pseudo-shaft frequency and

Novel salient inner stator Partitioned Stator Switched Flux PM machine
2016 Eighteenth International Middle East Power Systems Conference (MEPCON), 2016A novel salient inner stator Partitioned Stator Switched Flux PM machine is proposed in this paper. The proposed machine combines the operation principles of the partitioned stators and the outer-rotor switched flux permanent magnet machine. It employs the rotor and stator of a partitioned stator switched flux machine as a rotor and an outer stator ...
