Multimode optical fibers: steady state mode exciter

Applied Optics, 1976
The steady state mode power distribution of the multimode graded index fiber was measured. A simple and effective steady state mode exciter was fabricated by an etching technique. Its insertion loss was 0.5 dB for an injection laser. Deviation in transmission characteristics of multimode graded index fibers can be avoided by using the steady state mode

Numerical Methods for Steady State/Hopf Mode Interactions

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 1997
Numerical methods for dealing with steady state/Hopf mode interactions using extended systems are considered. In particular, it is shown that such a mode interaction corresponds to a symmetry breaking bifurcation of a Hopf extended system as well as a Hopf bifurcation of a symmetry breaking extended system.

Numerical methods for steady-state mode interactions

IMA Journal of Numerical Analysis, 1996
The paper deals with the study of mode interactions in a nonlinear problem with two parameters \[ g(x,\lambda,\mu)=0,\quad g:X\times\mathbb{R}^2\to X,\tag{1} \] which satisfies an equivariance condition. It is shown that a mode interaction in such kind of problems with \(Z_2 \times Z_2\) symmetry can be described in terms of two different bifurcations ...

Steady-state simulation methods for design mode

Computers & Chemical Engineering, 1979
Abstract This paper makes an attempt to analyse the form of the process unit models and its role in solving the so called balance-simulation problem or controlled simulation problem. Several aspects are being looked into. First, the basic characteristics of a process unit model in the flowsheeting simulation programming system are dealt with, this ...

Steady-State/Steady-State Mode Interaction in Nonlinear Equations with Z2-Symmetry

1990
This paper is concerned with an example of steady-state/steady-state mode interaction in two parameter nonlinear problems satisfying a Z2-symmetry (equivariance) condition. Specifically we analyze the solution structure near a point where a path of symmetry-breaking bifurcations and a path of fold points intersect.

Study of steady-state modes of a synchronous electric machine

2023
The monograph contains theoretical studies and a mathematical apparatus justifying the use of synchronous permanent magnet motors. Comparative calculations of synchronous machines and permanent magnet motors are shown. The monograph is intended for specialists of design, transport and municipal organizations of the urban economy, as well as for ...

Analysis of the steady-state mode of the ormotron

Third International Kharkov Symposium 'Physics and Engineering of Millimeter and Submillimeter Waves'. MSMW'98. Symposium Proceedings (Cat. No.98EX119), 2002
The ormotron is a microwave M-type generator with an injected electron beam and an open resonator. In this paper the analysis has been made in the framework of the approximate analytical nonlinear theory to carry out analysis of the ormotron mode of the stationary oscillations.

Mode coupling theory of hydrodynamics and steady state systems

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1982
Abstract We construct a formal mode coupling theory for hydrodynamic systems which includes contributions from all powers of the hydrodynamic variables. This theory is applied to nonequilibrium steady state systems. A generalization of the local equilibrium distribution is used to describe the nonequilibrium state.

Mode competition in steady-state optical waveguide amplifiers

Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics, 2009
A theory of monochromatic light propagation in a fiber amplifier is developed. It is shown that competition between coherent gain-guided modes is qualitatively different from interaction between incoherent beams. Spatial beating between modes limits the gain of the mode with lower input power even if the corresponding modal gain coefficient is higher ...
