Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Design of 3D equilibria and coils for steady-state operation of tokamaks

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Inspired by the respective advantages of tokamaks and stellarators, we propose a quasi-axisymmetric (QA) tokamak-stellarator hybrid concept as a steady-state operation mode of standard tokamaks.

Operating tokamaks with steady-state toroidal current [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
Continuous operation of a tokamak requires, among other things, a means of continuously providing the toroidal current. Various methods have been proposed to provide this current including methods which utilize radio-frequency waves in any of several frequency regimes.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Microbial Community from Tannery Wastewater in Microbial Fuel Cell

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2018
A microbial fuel cell (MFC), a bio-electrochemical device, can simultaneously remove carbonaceous and nitrogenous pollution, while generating bioelectricity.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Determination of Model Kinetics for Forced Unsteady State Operation of Catalytic CH4 Oxidation

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
The catalytic oxidation of methane for abating the emission vented from coal mine or natural gas transportation has been known as most reliable method.

LHD Diagnostics Toward Steady-State Operation

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2004
The large helical device (LHD) is the world largest helical system having all superconducting coils. After completion of LHD in 1998, six experimental campaigns have been carried out successfully. The maximum stored energy, central electron temperature, and volume averaged beta value are 1.16 MJ, 10 keV, and 3.2%, respectively.
