Transient and steady state simulation of the renal countercurrent mechanism

Computers in Biology and Medicine, 1977
Abstract A mathematical description is given for transport of sodium, urea and water within the tubule system composed of Henle loops, distal tubules, collecting ducts and vasa recta. Transtubular fluxes are assumed passive, except for sodium in the ascending Henle loops, distal tubules and collecting ducts.

On steady‐state simulation of some weak regenerative networks

European Transactions on Telecommunications, 2002
AbstractWe discuss the possibilities of the so‐called weak regeneration in the steady‐state analysis of multiserver queues and some Jackson‐type and multiclass queueing networks when classical regenerative simulation is ineffective. A few constructions of weak regeneration for open Jackson‐type and multiclass queueing networks are given in an explicit ...

Numerical Simulation of Steady-State Fronts

Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 1974
Abstract The numerical frontogenesis model of Williams is modified to include horizontal and vertical turbulent diffusions of heat and momentum. The turbulent diffusions are represented with constant coefficients, and an Ekman layer is added to the basic deformation field.

Ranking and Selection for Steady-State Simulation: Procedures and Perspectives

INFORMS Journal on Computing, 2002
We present and evaluate three ranking-and-selection procedures for use in steady-state simulation experiments when the goal is to find which among a finite number of alternative systems has the largest or smallest long-run average performance.

Efficient steady state simulation of nonlinear integrated circuits

Proceedings of 1994 37th Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002
We implemented a modification technique named Newton-Powell, in the harmonic balance based circuit simulator SPECTRE, in order to improve the numerical efficiency of nonlinear circuit analysis. In this paper we discuss some aspect of the algorithm implementation, and we evaluate the Newton-Powell method in terms of efficiency and convergence properties.

Coverage of confidence intervals in sequential steady-state simulation

Simulation Practice and Theory, 1998
Abstract Stochastic discrete-event simulation has become one of the most-used tools for performance evaluation in science and engineering. But no innovation can replace the responsibility of simulators for obtaining credible results from their simulation experiments.

Simulation of a steady-state integrated human thermal system

Computers in Biology and Medicine, 1972
The mathematical model of an integrated human thermal system is formulated. The system consists of an external thermal regulation device on the human body. The purpose of the device (a network of cooling tubes held in contact with the surface of the skin) is to maintain the human body in a state of thermoneutrality.

Steady-state simulation of metastable stochastic chemical systems

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2013
We address the problem of steady-state simulation for metastable continuous-time Markov chains with application to stochastic chemical kinetics. Such systems are characterized by the existence of two or more pseudo-equilibrium states and very slow convergence towards global equilibrium.

The steady state of epidermis: mathematical modeling and numerical simulations

Journal of Mathematical Biology, 2016
We consider a model with age and space structure for the epidermis evolution. The model, previously presented and analyzed with respect to the suprabasal epidermis, includes different types of cells (proliferating cells, differentiated cells, corneous cells, and apoptotic cells) moving with the same velocity, under the constraint that the local volume ...
