Numerical Study on Flow and Heat Transfer of Alkali Metal High-temperature Heat Pipe during Frozen Startup Based on FVM

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu
In recent years, heat pipe has been widely used as an efficient heat transfer equipment in fuel chemistry, electronic communication and so on. The main structure of a heat pipe mainly includes the vacuum tube containing alkali metal working fluid and ...

The Chemistry of Interstellar OH+, H2O+, and H3O+: Inferring the Cosmic Ray Ionization Rates from Observations of Molecular Ions

open access: yes, 2012
We model the production of OH+, H2O+, and H3O+ in interstellar clouds, using a steady state photodissociation region code that treats the freeze-out of gas species, grain surface chemistry, and desorption of ices from grains.

Cell density–dependent nuclear‐cytoplasmic shuttling of SETDB1 integrates with Hippo signaling to regulate YAP1‐mediated transcription

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At low cell density, SETDB1 and YAP1 accumulate in the nucleus. As cell density increases, the Hippo pathway is gradually activated, and SETDB1 is associated with increased YAP1 phosphorylation. At high cell density, phosphorylated YAP1 is sequestered in the cytoplasm, while SETDB1 becomes polyubiquitinated and degraded by the ubiquitin–proteasome ...

A note on flow behavior in axially-dispersed plug flow reactors with step input of tracer

open access: yesAtmospheric Environment: X, 2019
Atmospheric chemistry studies are frequently conducted in flow reactors, such as the potential aerosol mass (PAM) reactor. To characterize the flow condition in such a reactor, an axially-dispersed plug flow reactor (AD-PFR) model has been applied to ...

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Coordination-Driven Self-Assembly of Silver(I) and Gold(I) Rings: Synthesis, Characterization, and Photophysical Studies

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
In this work, we investigate the self-assembly between Ag(I) and Au(I) centers and pyridyl donors to form hexagonal metallacycles and related linear complexes.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Deuterium plasma induced preferential erosion in ultra-high temperature ceramics TiB2 and ZrB2

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Steady-state deuterium plasma exposures were performed on ultra-high temperature ceramics titanium diboride (TiB _2 ) and zirconium diboride (ZrB _2 ) using the PISCES-RF linear plasma device (LPD) as early screening for first wall, plasma-facing ...

Toward Multi-Parametric Porous Silicon Transducers Based on Covalent Grafting of Graphene Oxide for Biosensing Applications

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2018
Graphene oxide (GO) is a two-dimensional material with peculiar photoluminescence emission and good dispersion in water, that make it an useful platform for the development of label-free optical biosensors. In this study, a GO-porous silicon (PSi) hybrid
