Steady state entanglement in the mechanical vibrations of two dielectric membranes [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2008
We consider two dielectric membranes suspended inside a Fabry-Perot-cavity, which are cooled to a steady state via a drive by suitable classical lasers. We show that the vibrations of the membranes can be entangled in this steady state.

Suppression of rotating machine shaft-line torsional vibrations by a driving asynchronous motor using two advanced control methods [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Technical Sciences, 2023
Many industrial rotating machines driven by asynchronous motors are often affected by detrimental torsional vibrations. In this paper, a method of attenuation of torsional vibrations in such objects is proposed.

Problems of steady vibrations in the coupled linear theory of double-porosity viscoelastic materials

open access: yesArchives of Mechanics, 2021
In the present paper the coupled linear theory of double-porosity viscoelastic materials is considered and the basic boundary value problems (BVPs) of steady vibrations are investigated.

Applied theory of bending vibration of the piezoelectric and piezomagnetic bimorph [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Dielectrics, 2020
Based on the variational principle, equations and boundary conditions for transverse steady vibrations of a bimorph consisting of a piezoelectric and piezomagnetic layers are obtained.

Influence of End Wall Clearance on Guide Vane Self-Excited Vibrations at Small Openings during Pump Mode’s Starting Up Process of a Reversible Pump Turbine

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
Unstable guide vane torsional mode self-excited vibrations that occur at small guide vane openings during the transient operations with pump flow, such as the starting and closing of the pump mode, are considered to have potentially severe consequences ...

A comparison of the pulsating and steady jets on flow-induced vibrations and thermal behavior of a sprung cylinder inside an isothermal channel

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2022
In this paper, the effect of the pulsating jet from channel walls on the thermal and vibrational behavior of the elastically-mounted cylinder is examined.

Implementing Simulationx in the Modelling of Marine Shafting Steady State Torsional Vibrations

open access: yesPolish Maritime Research, 2021
Marine propulsion shafting systems are exposed to torsional vibrations originating from excitations in their prime movers and propellers. It is essential to analyse their steady state response in the earliest stage of ship design. The paper describes the

Steady streaming in a channel with permeable walls [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We study steady streaming in a channel between two parallel permeable walls induced by oscillating (in time) blowing/suction at the walls. We obtain an asymptotic expansion of the solution of the Navier-Stokes equations in the limit when the amplitude of
