Instability and Steady-State Coupled Motions in Vibration Isolating Suspensions
Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 1959When using non-linear spring systems for vibration isolating suspensions, motion initiated in one of the degrees of freedom may cause another degree of freedom to become unstable and commence to vibrate. Subsequently, the two motions become coupled. The paper deals with instability and coupling phenomena observed with a six degree of freedom model ...

Problems of Steady Vibrations of Rigid Body
2019In this chapter, the BVPs of steady vibrations of the linear theory for quadruple porosity rigid body are investigated by means of the potential method and the theory of Fredholm integral equations.

Steady-state vibration of DFT locomotive cabs.
2001Back injuries and other illnesses for Tranz Rails Locomotive Engineers, is claimed to be attributed to vibration of locomotive cabs. The purpose of this research was to conduct a study in order to determine the complex motion of a DFT locomotive cab and to objectively and quantifiably measure the vibration present in the locomotive.

Non‐linear steady state vibration of frames by finite element method
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1989AbstractA finite element method based on the virtual work principle to determine the steady state response of frams in free or forced periodic vibration is introduced. The axial and flexural deformations are coupled by mean of the induced axial force along the element.

Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, 1988
Abstract Results of an experimental investigation of the evolution of vibrator-induced, steady-state sinusoidal ground vibration are reported and interpreted as suggesting the nonlinear wave phenomenon known as Fermi-Pasta-Ulam recurrence. Uniform-amplitude (unmodulated) sinusoidal wavetrains were generated by a 4441 N electrodynamic vibrator, the ...

Steady state oscillations and stability of non-linear dynamic vibration absorbers
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1992Summary: The first part of this study presents an analysis for determining the steady state response of dynamic vibration absorbers, for which both the machine and the absorber are assumed to possess a nonlinear, Duffing type, stiffness. A procedure which analyzes the stability characteristics of the located periodic steady state solutions is also ...
