Rheocasting versus Die Casting: An Insight into the Low‐Cycle Fatigue Behavior of AlSi7Mg0.6

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study compares rheocast lightweight components with high‐pressure die cast materials regarding microstructure and fatigue behavior. Rheocast process offers higher efficiency due to lower casting temperatures. Despite some microstructural differences, both processes show similar strengths (yield strength 125 MPa, tensile strength 240 MPa).

High intensity tapping regime in a frustrated lattice gas model of granular compaction

open access: yes, 2010
In the frame of a well established lattice gas model for granular compaction, we investigate the high intensity tapping regime where a pile expands significantly during external excitation.

Quantum Shuttle Phenomena in a Nanoelectromechanical Single-Electron Transistor

open access: yes, 2004
An analytical analysis of quantum shuttle phenomena in a nanoelectromechanical single-electron transistor has been performed in the realistic case, when the electron tunnelling length is much greater than the amplitude of the zero point oscillations of ...

3D‐Printed Serial Snap‐Through Architectures for Programmable Mechanical Response

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A serial snap‐through architecture is realized using compact 3D‐printed von Mises truss units arranged in a staged cascade. Their geometry and boundary conditions program multistage mechanical responses with plateaux and re‐hardening regimes. An inverted‐compliance model predicts these behaviors and enables analytical design of programmable force ...

Dynamics of Controlled Hybrid Systems of Aerial Cable-Ways

open access: yes, 2006
Dynamics of the hybrid systems of aerial cable-ways is investigated. The eigenvalue problems are considered for such hybrid systems with different assumptions. An overview of different methods for eigenvalue problems is given. In the research, the method
