Mechanical Analysis on Incremental Launching for the Steel Box Girder
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014Houdingxiang No. 3 Bridge is a 4-span steel box girder bridge. After the incremental launching construction, the bridge has to be lowering to the support bear, the lowering construction is divided into three stages. At first the launching equipment is used to lower 80cm, the next the jack with load capacity of 180 tons is used to lower 110cm, finally ...

Fatigue management of the Midland Links steel box girder decks
Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Bridge Engineering, 2014The Midland Links motorway viaducts, carrying the M5 and M6 around Birmingham, UK have been subject to a regular programme of assessment, repair and strengthening since 1989, after corrosion problems, primarily due to chloride contamination, were first detected in 1979.

Geometric imperfections and tolerances for steel box girder bridges
Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 1988An investigation to determine the magnitude of geometric imperfections induced during the fabrication of welded steel box girders is reported for nine highway bridges constructed in Canada. Measurement data were collected to compare the significance of dead load on initial imperfections obtained following fabrication.

Seismic Response of Curved Steel Box Girder Bridges
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1988The results of a comprehensive study of the seismic response of curved steel box girder bridges are presented. Multiple‐span bridges with up to five spans are analyzed. The bridge is modeled using 3‐D space frame elements and El Centro earthquake accelerogram is used as a dynamic input to calculate the maximum responses at the bridge deck and columns ...

Buckling of the Compression Flanges of Steel Box-Girder Bridges
1983In Chapter 7 the behaviour of longitudinally stiffened compression flanges is studied via on orthotropic plate concept. The present chapter investigates such elements as systems of flange sheet and discrete stiffeners; i.e. it employs the same approach as used in Chapter 10 in an analysis of stiffened webs.
