Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Deoxidation of Natively Oxide Layer of Copper Powders in a Fluidized Bed

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a novel approach to reducing oxide layers on metal powders using low‐temperature hydrogen dielectric barrier discharge plasmas at atmospheric pressure. Unlike conventional hydrogen‐plasma reductions, the powders do not contact the plasma directly.

Permeability of Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete Influence of Fibre Parameters

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2011
Abstract An extensive laboratory investigation was undertaken to study the effects of different fibre parameters on the permeability of steel fibre reinforced concrete. The effects of fibre content, fibre aspect ratio and curing age were studied. Crimped fibres in varying weight fractions of 1.0%, 2.0% and 4.0% and having aspect ratios of 65, 85 and ...

Modelling of SFRC using inverse finite element analysis

open access: yes, 2006
A method of inverse finite element analysis is used to determine the constitutive relationship of SFRC in tension, using primary experimental data. Based on beam bending test results and results from pull-out tests, an attempt is made to explain the ...

Multifunctional Crushing and Piezoresistive Self‐Sensing in Conductive Epoxy/CNT‐Coated Polyetherimide TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports lightweight polyetherimide triply periodic minimal surfaces lattices coated with carbon nanotube‐reinforced epoxy that combine mechanical robustness with self‐sensing. The conformal coating enhances stiffness, strength and energy absorption while enabling reliable strain monitoring.

Flexural behaviour of steel fibre reinforced self-compacting concrete laminar structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A high strength Steel Fibre Reinforced Self-Compacting Concrete (SFRSCC) of high ductility was developed. To evaluate the contribution of steel fibre reinforcement for the flexural resistance of laminar structures, an experimental program was carried ...

Numerical Exploration of Thermal Shock Resistance in MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A mesostructure‐resolved numerical framework is developed to evaluate the thermal shock resistance of MgO–C refractories. By modeling interface debonding under rapid temperature changes and introducing a modified thermal shock parameter that accounts for mesocracks, the study shows how graphite content and aggregate size influence thermal shock ...
