Thermodynamics on compositional design of slag for the Ti content control in bearing steel

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
The control of low Ti content is vital to reducing the adverse effects of TiN inclusions on fatigue life of bearing steel. Compared with the strict Ti content control of raw materials, the Ti content control by interaction between refining slag and ...

Effects of ameliorant application on the growth and yield of rice plants (Oryza sativa L.)

open access: yesIlmu Pertanian (Agricultural Science), 2023
An ameliorant is a chemical that can be used to improve soil fertility. The improving agents include dolomite and steel slag. Steel slag is a by-product of the steel industry containing CaCO3, SiO2, CaSiO3, and MgO, which can be used to improve the ...

ConvNeXt steel slag sand substitution rate detection method incorporating attention mechanism

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The proportion of natural sand replaced by steel slag sand affects the volumetric stability of steel slag mortar and steel slag concrete. However, the steel slag substitution rate detection method is inefficient and lacks representative sampling ...

The Use of Steel Slag in Asphaltic Mixture

open access: yesKey Engineering Materials, 2004
Steel slag is a residue produced by refining iron to steel in open-hearth, basic oxygen and electric arc furnaces. It is liquid cooled from its molten state and has high density. The possibilities for the recycling of steel slag differ from country to country, depending on the chemical composition of the slags, steel making process, the national and ...

CFD Model for Emulsification of Slag into the Steel

open access: yesISIJ International, 2009
A CFD model based on water model experiments has been created to simulate slag entrainment and droplet formation. Multiphase Volume of Fluid (VOF) method is used to track the interface between slag and steel and User Defined File (UDF) code is applied to track separate droplets. Four oil–water systems and three slag–metal systems were simulated.
