Analyses of the Deformability and Chemistry of Non‐Metallic Inclusions in QT Steels With Increased Recycling‐Induced Tramp Element Content

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This work uses high‐temperature dilatometry to examine how the tramp elements Cu, Ni, and Sn affect the deformability of non‐metallic inclusions and matrix in quench‐and‐temper steel. Mg‐bearing inclusions deform less than Mg‐free ones. Copper lowers formability. Nickel increases deformability.

Analysis of Slag Conditioners for Foam Control by Coupling Thermodynamic Calculations and Machine Learning Models

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ceramic Engineering &Science, Volume 8, Issue 3, May 2026.
This work combined computational thermodynamics and ML models to predict slag properties and, consequently, the foam aging times. Using this framework, three alternative slag conditioners were investigated to control slag foaming in the EAF. ABSTRACT The slag foaming practice enables high energy efficiency in the electric arc furnace, and its ...

Outline of a Washing Treatment to Improve Electric Arc Furnace Slag Environmental Behavior

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 97, Issue 5, Page 2541-2558, May 2026.
This study evaluates a water‐washing treatment for electric arc furnace slag to reduce the leaching of hazardous elements (Cr, Ba, Mo, and V), enabling its reuse. The process effectively decreases leachate concentrations. Using the treated slag as a substitute aggregate in concrete reduces greenhouse gases emissions by 42.5% compared to landfilling ...

Reduction, Softening, and Melting Characteristics of Mill Scale‐Based Briquettes for Blast Furnace Ironmaking

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 97, Issue 5, Page 2585-2599, May 2026.
The study evaluates mill scale‐based briquettes, which meet industrial standards for shatter strength and exhibit a low decrepitation index. Despite their limited reducibility in nonisothermal reduction experiments, softening and melting results indicate potential application as a substitute for conventional acidic iron‐bearing materials for use in ...

Emerging Technologies for Biobutanol Production via Syngas Fermentation

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 5, May 2026.
Biobutanol production from syngas is promising but limited by microbial energy conservation and gas–liquid mass transfer. This review integrates advances in cultivation control and bioreactor engineering with next‐generation biological tools including metabolic rewiring, co‐cultivation and chain elongation, and electro‐fermentation to enable carbon ...

Liquidus of MgO and MgAl2O4 in the CaO‐MgO‐Al2O3 System at 1550 and 1600°C

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT In this study, the liquidus of MgO and MgAl2O4 spinel phase in the CaO‐MgO‐Al2O3 system at 1550 and 1600°C were experimentally investigated using a classical quenching method. In order to examine the liquidus composition accurately, the equilibration was carried out using four different ways using the combinations of Pt and ceramic (MgO and ...

Stigma Management within and between Levels

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, Volume 63, Issue 3, Page 861-890, May 2026.
Abstract We respond to recent calls to connect our understanding of stigma across and between levels of analysis by investigating how stigma management strategies to the same stigma vary and relate in nested industry, organizational, and individual actors.

How do Japanese and French firms in steel industry address the institutional change and the globalization? Employment adjustment and age management in a downsizing context [PDF]

open access: yes
Steel industry has been engaged for a very long time in a downsizing process which has deeply transformed social and industrial relations, work and employment management. Once, these industry was owned and managed by big national groups (sometimes public)
