Doubly Constrained Robust Blind Beamforming Algorithm
We propose doubly constrained robust least-squares constant modulus algorithm (LSCMA) to solve the problem of signal steering vector mismatches via the Bayesian method and worst-case performance optimization, which is based on the mismatches between the ...

Dialz: A Python Toolkit for Steering Vectors
We introduce Dialz, a framework for advancing research on steering vectors for open-source LLMs, implemented in Python. Steering vectors allow users to modify activations at inference time to amplify or weaken a 'concept', e.g. honesty or positivity, providing a more powerful alternative to prompting or fine-tuning.

Steering vector errors and diagonal loading [PDF]
Diagonal loading is one of the most widely used and effective methods to improve robustness of adaptive beamformers. The authors consider its application to the case of steering vector errors, i.e. when there exists a mismatch between the actual steering vector of interest and the presumed one. More precisely, the problem addressed is that of optimally

Analysing the Safety Pitfalls of Steering Vectors
Activation steering has emerged as a powerful tool to shape LLM behavior without the need for weight updates. While its inherent brittleness and unreliability are well-documented, its safety implications remain underexplored. In this work, we present a systematic safety audit of steering vectors obtained with Contrastive Activation Addition (CAA), a ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Style Vectors for Steering Generative Large Language Models [PDF]
This research explores strategies for steering the output of large language models (LLMs) towards specific styles, such as sentiment, emotion, or writing style, by adding style vectors to the activations of hidden layers during text generation. We show that style vectors can be simply computed from recorded layer activations for input texts in a ...
