Abstract Background Facets of decision‐making and risk‐taking are implicated in adolescent health risk behaviors; however, whether they may lead to adolescent engagement in substance use, gambling, and self‐harm is unknown. Methods We used the Millennium Cohort Study to test whether a task‐based measure of decision‐making and risk‐taking predicts ...

Compact attractors for a Stefan problem with kinetics
We prove existence of a unique bounded classical solution for a one-phase free-boundary problem with kinetics for continuous initial conditions. The main result of this paper establishes existence of a compact attractor for classical solutions of the ...

Abstract Background Young children with emerging mental health problems and neurodevelopmental differences often do not receive the support they need early in life, and if they do receive support, it may not be appropriately targeted towards their individual needs.

Form and Law ‐ Rupert Riedl's Significance for Morphology
ABSTRACT Rupert Riedl showed in his “Order in Living Organisms” that morphology can produce law statements and is, therefore, a proper, that is, nomothetic, science. Furthermore, he coined useful terms (interphene and metaphene) and concepts (burden, cadre and minimal homology).

On the Inverse Multiphase Stefan Problem
We consider inverse multiphase Stefan problem, where information on the heat flux on the fixed boundary is missing and must be found along with the temperature and free boundaries.

Linear Versus Centred Colouring via Pseudogrids
ABSTRACT A centred colouring of a graph is a vertex colouring in which every connected subgraph contains a vertex whose colour is unique and a linear colouring is a vertex colouring in which every (not‐necessarily induced) path contains a vertex whose colour is unique. For a graph G $G$, the centred chromatic number χ cen ( G ) ${\chi }_{\text{cen}}(G)$

A phase transition speed estimate in the Stefan problem
We give an estimate of the time needed for a phase transition to be completed in the Stefan problem. Our method is to compare the density of the diffusion process associated with the Stefan problem, with that of Brownian motion.

Revealing the Resonant Physics of Open Photonic Time Crystals
ABSTRACT Photonic time crystals (PTCs) are media whose permittivity is modulated periodically in time, enabling momentum bandgaps and parametric amplification of light. Their realization at the nanoscale can revolutionize the study of light‐matter interactions.

Cultural Factors in Complex Decision Making
Complex decision-making is conceptualised as the process of problem solving in meaningful and important, but complex, dynamic and partially opaque situations.
