Conductivity Analysis and Thermoelectric Behaviour of Larch Standing Trees Under Lightning Currents: Role of Moisture Distribution and Carrier Motion

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The direct effects of lightning strikes on forest combustibles form the foundation for predicting lightning‐induced forest fires. Accurate assessment of lightning impact is hindered by limited knowledge of the conduction characteristics of standing larch trees.

Towards data‐driven predictive maintenance for vacuum ion pumps at European XFEL

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, EarlyView.
This paper presents a machine‐learning‐based approach for early fault detection in vacuum ion pumps at the European XFEL by analyzing pressure data to detect fault precursors. The developed method enables predictive maintenance, reducing unplanned downtime and improving operational reliability.Large‐scale scientific facilities, such as the European ...

From analytical to data‐driven: multi‐method optimization of a bendable mirror system for dynamic focusing

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, EarlyView.
A small‐radius‐of‐curvature bendable mirror system is developed for dynamic focusing in X‐ray free‐electron laser and synchrotron radiation beamlines, and a transfer‐learning neural‐network and differential‐evolution framework is used for force‐to‐shape modeling and inverse optimization.

The Constellation: A Reappraisal of Walter Benjamin's Influence on Theodor W. Adorno

open access: yesConstellations, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the 1920s and 1930s, Walter Benjamin and Theodor W. Adorno both sought to develop a notion of Darstellung—of philosophical presentation or representation—that could provide an alternative to the classically idealist tendency to subsume objects under abstract concepts.
