Supercooled Stefan problem with a Neumann type boundary condition
We consider a supercooled one-dimensional Stefan problem with a Neumann boundary condition and a variable thermal diffusivity. We establish a necessary and sufficient condition for the heat flux at the fixed face x=0, in order to obtain existence ...

Self-propagating High temperature Synthesis (SHS) in the high activation energy regime [PDF]
We derive the precise limit of SHS in the high activation energy scaling suggested by B.J. Matkowksy-G.I. Sivashinsky in 1978 and by A. Bayliss-B.J. Matkowksy-A.P. Aldushin in 2002. In the time-increasing case the limit turns out to be the Stefan problem

Abstract To negotiate quality in early childhood education and care, we must ask from different perspectives what constitutes a good centre for children. The children themselves have only recently been identified as a resource to contribute to that discussion.

Carrier‐free self‐assembled nanomedicine for combination‐therapy of acute myeloid leukemia
CPDS combines drugs with three different mechanisms of action to achieve a multi‐mechanism combination therapy for AML by directly killing tumor cells and activating anti‐tumor immunity. Abstract As the main acute myeloid leukemia (AML) clinical treatment, the chemotherapy alone cannot meet the clinical therapeutic needs due to the high heterogeneity ...

ABSTRACT Retired electric vehicle (EV) batteries can be repurposed to stationary storage batteries. While this circularity solution has attracted attention from entrepreneurs, falling battery prices, along with the longer lifetime of new batteries, high consumer expectations and limited governmental support challenge the approach.

Fractional variational calculus of variable order
We study the fundamental problem of the calculus of variations with variable order fractional operators. Fractional integrals are considered in the sense of Riemann-Liouville while derivatives are of Caputo type.Comment: Submitted 26-Sept-2011; accepted ...

The paper deals with a somewhat ''non-classical'' Stefan problem of the following nature. The one-dimensional slab of ice at non-positive temperature is heated at one end, and the resulting water is immediately removed at every instant of melting. In the paper this model problem is formulated as a Stefan problem with Signorini boundary conditions at ...

ABSTRACT This study examines how plastics manufacturing firms can be classified according to their level of implementation of circular economy (CE) and industrial symbiosis (IS) practices and how such adoption influences sustainability performance. Using data from plastics manufacturing firms, we integrate cluster analysis with partial least squares ...

A Stefan problem of heat transfer in semi-infinite bodies with an arbitrary number of unsteady moving boundaries during phase transitions was solved. Such problems arise when composite materials are heated at high temperatures, causing the binding agents

A Methodology to Integrate Closed‐Cycle Heat Pumps into Batch Distillation Columns
Batch distillation often cannot use vapor recompression due to contamination risks in food and pharma. This study proposes a design for integrating closed‐loop heat pumps using natural fluids. Results show significant energy savings, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional setups.
