Military lands provide an opportunity to recover red wolves
The Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.Red wolf (Canis rufus) recovery remains challenging, with only one population persisting and no reintroductions since 1998. Despite extensive, biodiverse properties in the Southeast with conservation mandates, military lands have been overlooked. In our paper, we evaluate them as a potential path forward for red wolf reintroduction sites.
