Perfect countably infinite Steiner triple systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We use a free construction to prove the existence of perfect Steiner triple systems on a countably infinite point set. We use a specific countably infinite family of partial Steiner triple systems to start the construction, thus yielding 2ℵ0 non ...

Embedding Partial Steiner Triple Systems with Few Triples [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Discrete Mathematics, 2014
It was proved in 2009 that any partial Steiner triple system of order $u$ has an embedding of order $v$ for each admissible integer $v\geq 2u+1$. This result is best-possible in the sense that, for each $u\geq 9$, there exists a partial Steiner triple system of order $u$ that does not have an embedding of order $v$ for any $v<2u+1$.

Image‐Based Spatio‐Temporal Interpolation for Split Rendering

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Low‐powered devices – such as small form factor head‐mounted displays (HMDs) – struggle to deliver a smooth and high‐quality viewing experience, due to their limited power and rendering capabilities. Cloud rendering attempts to solve the quality issue, but leads to prohibitive latency and bandwidth requirements, hindering use with HMDs over ...

From steiner triple systems to 3-sun systems

open access: yes, 2013
An n-sun is the graph with 2n vertices consisting of an n-cycle with n pendent edges which form a 1-factor. In this paper we show that the necessary and sufficient conditions for the decomposition of complete tripartite graphs with at least two partite ...

The economic effect of discrimination: Evidence from the restaurant sector

open access: yesContemporary Economic Policy, Volume 43, Issue 2, Page 226-259, April 2025.
Abstract Discrimination often leads to economic consequences for affected groups. This study examines the economic impact of consumer discrimination on Chinese restaurants in the U.S. during the COVID‐19 pandemic's onset. Using cell phone data and revenue records, it identifies a significant −10% relative decline in visits to Chinese restaurants by ...

Competitive Interactions Between Generalist Predators and Their Effects on Shared and Non‐Shared Pests in a Greenhouse Crop

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
Orius laevigatus engages in unidirectional intraguild predation on Transeius montdorensis. Despite this, both predators coexisted and suppressed the shared thrips prey. Aphids, a non‐shared prey, were effectively controlled by O. laevigatus even when its population was limited due to intraguild predation. T.

Unravelling public and private interactions in the development of ‘new industries’—A review and research agenda

open access: yesEuropean Management Review, EarlyView.
Abstract In recent times, disruptive and technological innovations have accelerated the emergence and growth of new industries. Such developments have altered the dynamics of private and public interactions, leading to new forms of cross‐sector collaborations witnessed by the growing body of literature straddling many disciplines.

Model theory of Steiner triple systems

open access: yes, 2019
A Steiner triple system is a set $S$ together with a collection $\mathcal{B}$ of subsets of $S$ of size 3 such that any two elements of $S$ belong to exactly one element of $\mathcal{B}$.

The Effect of Traffic Congestion on Labour Investment Efficiency

open access: yesEuropean Financial Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The study examines the effects of headquarters‐city traffic congestion on labour investment efficiency. The results indicate that firms headquartered in congested cities may engage in inefficient labour investment decisions. Further analysis indicates that the inefficiency is associated with both overinvestment and underinvestment in labour ...
