INFLUENCE OF SHOCK WAVES ON THE LIGHT CURVES OF LONG-PERIOD VARIABLES

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2017
The shapes of light curves of Mira-type variable stars is analyzed. It is shown that some features of the light curves may be explained by passage of shock waves in the stars' atmospheres. In particular, it is noted that "steps" of the ascending branches

On inelastic hydrogen atom collisions in stellar atmospheres

open access: yes, 2011
The influence of inelastic hydrogen atom collisions on non-LTE spectral line formation has been, and remains to be, a significant source of uncertainty for stellar abundance analyses, due to the difficulty in obtaining accurate data for low-energy atomic

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...

Stellar Contamination Correction Using Back-to-back Transits of TRAPPIST-1 b and c

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Stellar surface heterogeneities, such as spots and faculae, often contaminate exoplanet transit spectra, hindering precise atmospheric characterization.

Pressure in Stellar Atmospheres [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1911
WITHIN the last fifteen years the spectroscopic equipment applied to the study of both laboratory and celestial investigation has been very materially modified both in dispersive power and design. In the early nineties there were very few of the 21.5-feet Rowland concave grating spectrographs in regular commission for terrestrial research, and it is ...
