The SAURON project. II. Sample and early results [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Early results are reported from the SAURON survey of the kinematics and stellar populations of a representative sample of nearby E, S0 and Sa galaxies. The survey is aimed at determining the intrinsic shape of the galaxies, their orbital structure, the ...

The Stellar Kinematic Fields of NGC 3379 [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 1999
We have measured the stellar kinematic profiles of NGC 3379 along four position angles using the MMT. The data extend 90" from the center, at essentially seeing-limited resolution out to 17". The mean velocities and dispersions have total errors better than 10 km/s (frequently better than 5 km/s) out to 55".

Nonextensive Behavior of Stellar Rotation in the Galactic Disk Components

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
The solar neighborhood is a unique stellar astrophysical laboratory formed by a variety of stars from different origins. In particular, two of the most notable populations known are the thick and thin disk stars, each characterized by distinct chemical ...

Flow physics of planar bistable fluidic oscillator with backflow limbs

open access: yesAIChE Journal, Volume 69, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Fluidic oscillators (FOs) are used in a variety of applications, including process control and process intensification. Despite the simple design and operation of FOs, the fluid dynamics of FOs exhibit rich complexities. The inherently unstable flow, jet oscillations, and resulting vortices influence mixing and other transport processes.

Stellar kinematics

open access: yes, 2021
Integral field spectroscopic (IFS) surveys have revolutionised our understanding of the stellar dynamics in external galaxies at z~0. Studies of gas-phase dynamics and deep slit-based spectroscopy at high redshift show that galaxies have experienced significant dynamical evolution since z~1.

KINEMATICS OF STELLAR POPULATIONS IN POSTSTARBURST GALAXIES [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2015
Post-starburst galaxies host a population of early-type stars (A or F), but simultaneously lack indicators of ongoing star formation such as OII emission. Two distinct stellar populations have been identified in these systems: a young post-starburst population superimposed on an older host population.

A Complex Stellar Line-of-Sight Velocity Distribution in the Lenticular Galaxy NGC 524

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2011
We present a detailed study of the stellar and gaseous kinematics in the luminous early-type galaxy NGC 524, derived from the long-slit spectroscopic observations obtained with the Russian 6 m telescope and the IFU data from the SAURON survey.

Study of trailing vortices and impeller jet instabilities of a flat blade impeller in small‐scale reactors

open access: yesAIChE Journal, Volume 69, Issue 2, February 2023., 2023
Abstract The design of economically feasible and profitable production processes has driven companies toward integrated continuous manufacturing by reducing working volumes and increasing operating frequencies. Thus, the development of robust small‐scale devices capable of multivariate process optimization is essential.

Spatially resolved kinematics of the central regions of M83: hidden mass signatures and the role of supernovae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The barred grand-design spiral M83 (NGC 5236) is one of the most studied galaxies given its proximity, orientation, and particular complexity. Nonetheless, many aspects of the central regions remain controversial conveying our limited understanding of ...
