Stellar Motions in the Polar Ring Galaxy NGC 4650A
We present the first measurement of the stellar kinematics in the polar ring of NGC 4650A. There is well defined rotation, with the stars and gas rotating in the same direction, and with similar amplitude.

Distance to the Brick cloud using stellar kinematics
Context. The central molecular zone at the Galactic center is currently being studied intensively to understand how star formation proceeds under the extreme conditions of a galactic nucleus. Knowing the position of molecular clouds along the line of sight toward the Galactic center has had important implications in our understanding of the physics of ...

A localized kinematic structure detected in atomic carbon emission spatially coincident with a proposed protoplanet in the HD 163296 disk [PDF]
Over the last five years, studies of the kinematics in protoplanetary disks have led to the discovery of new protoplanet candidates and several structures linked to possible planet-disk interactions. We detect a localized kinematic bipolar structure in the HD 163296 disk present inside the deepest dust gap at 48 au from atomic carbon line emission.

An Axisymmetric Distribution Function for the Galactic Bulge [PDF]
We describe a method for parameterizing two-integral distribution functions, based on triangular tesselations of the integral plane. We apply the method to the axisymmetric isotropic rotator model for the Galactic bulge of Kent~(1992), and compare the ...

KINEMATIC DISCOVERY OF A STELLAR STREAM LOCATED IN PISCES [PDF]
We report the kinematic discovery of the Pisces Stellar Stream (PSS), at Galactic longitude of roughly l=135 degrees and longitude between -39 < b < -36 deg. We originally identified this halo substructure from velocities of red giant branch stars in Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release 8, and confirmed its presence in turnoff stars from ...

IFU spectroscopy of 10 early-type galactic nuclei - IV. Properties of the circumnuclear stellar kinematics [PDF]
The study of stellar kinematic properties may provide hints on the formation and evolution of elliptical and lenticular galaxies. Although most previous studies have focused on the large scale of these galaxies, their central regions (scales of $\sim$ 100 pc) may contain important clues about their structure, such as kinematically decoupled cores. The black hole in IC 1459 from HST observations of the ionized gas disk
The peculiar elliptical galaxy IC 1459 (M_V = -21.19, D = 16.5 Mpc) has a fast counterrotating stellar core, stellar shells and ripples, a blue nuclear point source and strong radio core emission.

KINEMATICS OF CLASSICAL CEPHEIDS IN THE NUCLEAR STELLAR DISK [PDF]
Classical Cepheids are useful tracers of the Galactic young stellar population because their distances and ages can be determined from their period-luminosity and period-age relations. In addition, the radial velocities and chemical abundance of the Cepheids can be derived from spectroscopic observations, providing further insights into the structure ...

From Damage to Functionality: Remanufacturing of Thrust Roller Bearings by Tailored Forming
Herein, the wear and fatigue behavior of repaired bearing raceways with a new powder alloy is investigated using a FE8 test‐rig and an oscillating tribometer. The tests are compared with industrial manufactured bearings to evaluate the repair quality. The repair can extend the service life of the repaired bearing to that of a new bearing and improves ...
