Does God play dice with star clusters?
When a detailed model of a stellar population is unavailable, it is most common to assume that stellar masses are independently and identically distributed according to some distribution: the universal initial mass function (IMF). However, stellar masses

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Abstract In this empirical work, we aim to quantify the systematic uncertainties in stellar-mass (M ⋆) estimates made from spectral energy distribution (SED) fitting through stellar population synthesis (SPS) for galaxies in the local Universe by using the dynamical mass (M dyn) estimator as an SED ...

Constraints on the Faint End of the Galaxy Stellar Mass Function at z ≃ 4–8 from Deep JWST Data
We analyze a sample of 3300 galaxies between redshifts z ≃ 3.5 and z ≃ 8.5 selected from James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) images in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field and UKIDSS Ultra Deep Survey field, including objects with stellar masses as low as ≃10 ^8 M ...

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Photometric estimates of stellar masses in high-redshift galaxies [PDF]
We present a new tool for the photometric estimate of stellar masses in distant galaxies. The observed source spectral energy distributions are fitted by combining sets of various simple stellar populations, with different normalizations and different ...

The stellar to sub-stellar masses transition in 47 Tuc
Context. The study of the globular cluster 47 Tuc offers an opportunity to shed new light on the debated issue of the presence of multiple populations in globular clusters, as recent results from HST photometry and high-resolution spectroscopy outlined ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Optical & X-ray Studies of Ultraluminous X-ray Sources [PDF]
Ultraluminous X-ray Sources (ULXs) are point like X-ray sources situated external to the nucleus of their host galaxy, with inferred X-ray luminosities in excess of 10^{39} erg s^{−1} .
