Stellar black hole binary mergers in open clusters [PDF]
In this paper we study the evolution of a primordial black hole binary (BHB) in a sample of over 1500 direct-summation $N-$body simulations of small-and intermediate-size isolated star clusters as proxies of galactic open clusters. The BHBs have masses in the range of the first LIGO/Virgo detections.

We propose using table-top-size ultra-stable optical cavities from state-of-the-art optical atomic clocks as bar gravitational wave detectors for frequencies higher than 2 kHz.

Deep Learning for Galaxy Mergers in the Galaxy Main Sequence [PDF]
Starburst galaxies are often found to be the result of galaxy mergers. As a result, galaxy mergers are often believed to lie above the galaxy main sequence: the tight correlation between stellar mass and star formation rate.

Stellar Populations in High-z Galaxy Mergers [PDF]
We investigate the nature of stellar populations of major galaxy mergers between late-type spirals considerably abundant in interstellar medium by performing numerical simulations designed to solve both the dynamical and chemical evolution in a self-consistent manner.

Accurate Identification of Galaxy Mergers with Stellar Kinematics [PDF]
Abstract To determine the importance of merging galaxies to galaxy evolution, it is necessary to design classification tools that can identify the different types and stages of merging galaxies. Previously, using GADGET-3/SUNRISE simulations of merging galaxies and linear discriminant analysis (LDA), we created an accurate merging galaxy

Are stellar-mass binary black hole mergers isotropically distributed? [PDF]
ABSTRACT The Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo gravitational wave detectors have detected a population of binary black hole mergers in their first two observing runs. For each of these events, we have been able to associate a potential sky location region represented as a probability distribution on the sky.

Signature of Planetary Mergers on Stellar Spins [PDF]
Abstract One of the predictions of high-eccentricity planetary migration is that many planets will end up plunging into their host stars. We investigate the consequence of planetary mergers on their stellar hosts’ spin period. Energy and angular momentum conservation indicate that planet consumption by a star will spin up the star.

Two chemically similar stellar overdensities on opposite sides of the plane of the Galaxy [PDF]
Our Galaxy is thought to have undergone an active evolutionary history dominated by star formation, the accretion of cold gas, and, in particular, mergers up to 10 gigayear ago.

Galaxy growth in the concordance $\Lambda$CDM cosmology
We use galaxy and dark halo data from the public database for the Millennium Simulation to study the growth of galaxies in the De Lucia et al. (2006) model for galaxy formation.

From Discs to Bulges: effect of mergers on the morphology of galaxies [PDF]
We study the effect of mergers on the morphology of galaxies by means of the simulated merger tree approach first proposed by Moster et al. This method combines N-body cosmological simulations and semi-analytic techniques to extract realistic initial ...
