Nugrid stellar data set. I. Stellar yields from H to BI for stars with metallicities z=0.02 and z=0.01 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We provide a set of stellar evolution and nucleosynthesis calculations that applies established physics assumptions simultaneously to low- and intermediate-mass and massive star models.

An Analytical Method for Quantification of Sn Isotope Variations in Geological Materials Using MC‐ICP‐MS

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, Volume 48, Issue 4, Page 863-885, December 2024.
Key Points A method is described to obtain high precision Sn isotope ratios using the double spike technique in geological reference materials containing 0.03 to 7 μg g−1 of Sn. δ122/118Sn values are reported for sixteen geological RMs. Improved precision was achieved compared with previous studies by using low concentration Sn analyte.

The s-process in stellar sites

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
Stars are marvellous caldrons where all the elements of the Universe (apartfrom hydrogen and helium) have been synthesized. The solar system chemical distri-butionis the result of many pollution episodes from already extinct stellar generations, occurred

Detection of Inconsistencies in Isotope Ratios Certified in the Isotopic Primary Standards for Copper, Zinc and Nickel

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, Volume 48, Issue 4, Page 795-805, December 2024.
Key Points Isotopic reference materials are rarely cross‐examined. An optimised regression model and MC‐ICP‐MS offer a cost‐effective way to assess the reliability of values assigned to multi‐isotope reference materials. A significant lack of consistency has been observed in the long‐standing isotopic reference materials for nickel and zinc. Calibrated

The evolution and history of Vinca alkaloids: From the Big Bang to the treatment of pediatric acute leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, Volume 71, Issue 11, November 2024.
Abstract An attractive flower from the island of Madagascar has in part saved the lives of thousands of children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Random mutations and alterations to the genome led to the evolution of genes encoding enzymes, which would provide the periwinkle flower an arsenal of secondary metabolites to survive within the ...

Current quests in nucleosynthesis: present and future neutron-induced reaction measurements

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2014
We present some open questions in nucleosynthesis focused on the measurement of relevant neutron capture cross-sections and on new experimental methods.

Studies of 20 < A < 30 Nucleosynthesis in AGB Stars and Novae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this thesis, a variety of topics are investigated. Part I discusses asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars. We review their evolution and their contribution to the galactic chemical evolution.

The Role of Rotation on the Yields of the Two γ-Ray Emitters 26Al and 60Fe Ejected by Massive Stars

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We show that the observed ^60 Fe/ ^26 Al flux ratio provided by the SPectrometer on INTEGRAL satellite (0.24 ± 0.04) can be reproduced only if rotation is taken into account in the computation of the stellar models.

Precise Measurement of Magnesium Isotopes in Fe‐Mg Minerals Using a Multi‐collector SHRIMP Ion Microprobe

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, Volume 48, Issue 2, Page 331-343, June 2024.
Key Points Corrected for the Earth's magnetic field, the SHRIMP's IMF depends on the mineral species, not the chemical composition. The IMF arises from the force constant difference between "hard" and "soft" bonds, which is characteristic of each mineral. This permitted the calculation of IMF‐correction factors for most common Mg‐bearing minerals.

A study of U Aquarii and the nucleosynthesis of neutrons and S-process elements in evolved stars of low mass

open access: yes, 2014
The origin of the extreme hydrogen deficiency observed in the R Coronae Borealis (RCrB) stars remains poorly understood. A likely mechanism for producing this deficiency is one whereby the original hydrogen envelope of the star is engulfed and ...
