The stellar occultation by Makemake on 2011 April 23 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We have taken advantage of a stellar occultation by the dwarf planet Makemake on 2011 April 23, to determine several of its main physical properties. We present results from a multisite campaign with 8 positive occultation detections from 5 different ...

Evidence of a New Arc or a Belt of Small Satellites around (50000) Quaoar

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
We report the results of an observation of a stellar occultation by the (50000) Quaoar system, observed on 2025 June 25. Observations were made from 10 sites in the USA in an attempt to detect Quaoar’s Q1R ring.

Validation of NO2 and NO from the Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment (ACE) [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2008
Vertical profiles of NO2 and NO have been obtained from solar occultation measurements by the Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment (ACE), using an infrared Fourier Transform Spectrometer (ACE-FTS) and (for NO2) an ultraviolet-visible-near-infrared ...

Flexible Implantable Silicon Carbide Multi‐Electrode Array (MEA) for Cell Multichannel Recording and Cell Ablation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Flexible silicon carbide (SiC) microelectrode arrays enable high‐fidelity, multichannel cell extracellular recording and precise localized ablation. SiC has been extensively evaluated to persist long‐term in chronic physiological conditions while remaining robust, with excellent electrical and electrochemical stability.

Improvement of Jupiter's satellites ephemerides using stellar occultation observations [PDF]

open access: yes
The inner Galilean moons orbiting Jupiter are locked into the so-called “Laplace resonance”, where the orbital periods of Ganymede, Europa and Io maintain a 4:2:1 ratio respectively.

Detection of Low‐Altitude Cislunar Dust With the Lunar Occultation Archive

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
It is believed that dust formations above the lunar surface, manifested via sunlight scattering and detected in‐situ, are of too low density to pose threats to lunar missions.

Unraveling and Mitigating Resolution Loss in UV‐Assisted Vapor Phase Polymerization of Monolithic PEDOT:Tosylate Electrochromic Patterns

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This work aims to understand the origin of pattern deviation in PEDOT:Tos films formed via vapor phase polymerization on UV‐exposed oxidant. UV exposure induces formation of loosely bound water which diffuses and produces macroscopic structuring at increased block copolymer contents.

Performing Automated, High-Speed Photometry on Occulting, Small Outer Solar System Bodies

open access: yesEdinburgh Student Journal of Science
Monitoring stellar occultations provides a powerful means to measure the shapes and sizes of small Solar System bodies, but produces large quantities of image data which can be laborious to analyse.

High Humidity Exacerbates Psoriasiform Skin Disease Relapse by Increasing Tissue‐Resident Memory T Cells via Altering Skin Microbiota

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrated that high humidity worsened psoriasis relapse in murine psoriasiform skin inflammation by increasing skin‐resident memory CD8+ cells via upregulating IL‐15Rα on keratinocytes. The increases in IL‐15Rα and memory CD8+ cells were attributed to S. nepalensis and its metabolite ADMA in skin exposed to high humidity.

Nanocellulose Alleviates Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy via Gut Microbiota‐Mediated Bile Acid Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanocellulose, derived from microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) through sulfuric acid hydrolysis or mechanical grinding to produce CNC or CNF, was tested in a rat ICP model. Particularly, CNF improved gut microbiota composition, reduced secondary bile acid metabolism, and restored bile acid homeostasis through modulation of the gut–liver axis.
