Forced Oscillations in Fluid Tori and Quasi-Periodic Oscillations

open access: yes, 2005
The kilo-Hertz Quasi--Periodic Oscillations in X-ray binaries could originate within the accretion flow, and be a signature of non--linear fluid oscillations and mode coupling in strong gravity.

Decreased Serum 5‐HT: Clinical Correlates and Regulatory Role in NMJ of MG

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Although 5‐Hydroxytryptamine (5‐HT) indirectly stimulates muscle contraction and participates in regulating Acetylcholine receptor (AChR) cluster homeostasis in cellular, animal, and clinical studies, evidence regarding its potential to modulate muscle contraction in myasthenia gravis (MG) remains limited.

CoRoT measures solar-like oscillations and granulation in stars hotter than the Sun

open access: yes, 2008
Oscillations of the Sun have been used to understand its interior structure. The extension of similar studies to more distant stars has raised many difficulties despite the strong efforts of the international community over the past decades.

Plasma Proteomic Signatures for Alzheimer's Disease: Comparable Accuracy to ATN Biomarkers and Cross‐Platform Validation

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background There is growing recognition of the potential of plasma proteomics for Alzheimer's Disease (AD) risk assessment and disease characterization. However, differences between proteomics platforms introduce uncertainties regarding cross‐platform applicability.

Sonic-Point Model of Kilohertz Quasi-Periodic Brightness Oscillations in Low-Mass X-ray Binaries

open access: yes, 1998
Strong, coherent, quasi-periodic brightness oscillations (QPOs) with frequencies ranging from about 300 Hz to 1200 Hz have been discovered with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer in the X-ray emission from some fifteen neutron stars in low-mass binary ...

Lessons Learned From a Delayed‐Start Trial of Modafinil for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Freezing of gait (FOG) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) is debilitating and has limited treatments. Modafinil modulates beta/gamma band activity in the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), like PPN deep brain stimulation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that Modafinil would improve FOG in PwPD.

Hopfield Neural Networks for Online Constrained Parameter Estimation With Time‐Varying Dynamics and Disturbances

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This paper proposes two projector‐based Hopfield neural network (HNN) estimators for online, constrained parameter estimation under time‐varying data, additive disturbances, and slowly drifting physical parameters. The first is a constraint‐aware HNN that enforces linear equalities and inequalities (via slack neurons) and continuously tracks the ...

Current Tracking Adaptive Control of Brushless DC Motors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
In this paper, the current tracking for Brushless Direct Current motors is approached considering uncertainty in the parameters of the motor's model. An adaptive control scheme to compensate electrical parameters uncertainty is proposed without requiring any knowledge of the mechanical parameters.

Constraining angular momentum transport processes in stellar interiors with red-giant stars in the open cluster NGC6819

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
Clusters are excellent test benches for verification and improvement of stellar evolution theory. The recent detection of solar-like oscillations in G-K giants in the open cluster NGC6819 with Kepler provides us with independent constraints on the masses

The amplitude of solar oscillations using stellar techniques

open access: yes, 2008
The amplitudes of solar-like oscillations depend on the excitation and damping, both of which are controlled by convection. Comparing observations with theory should therefore improve our understanding of the underlying physics.
