Experimental characterization of plasma start-up using ECRH in preparation of W7-X operation
The upcoming operation of Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) will be supported by an Electron Cyclotron Resonance Heating (ECRH) system working at 140 GHz in second harmonic at the nominal magnetic field of 2.5T.

Optimization of M=2 stellarator
"Quasi-axisyrnmetric stellarator (QAS) configurations are considered for improvement of high energy reflected particle confinement. A reference QAS configuration with the field period of M = 2 has been obtained by the optimization of the shape of the ...

Suppressing trapped-electron-mode-driven turbulence via optimization of three-dimensional shaping
Turbulent transport driven by trapped electron modes (TEMs) is believed to drive significant heat and particle transport in quasihelically symmetric stellarators.

Optimizing stellarators with hidden symmetry
Stellarators confine fusion plasmas using three-dimensional magnetic fields composed of nested toroidal magnetic surfaces. In generic stellarators, trapped particles can drift across these surfaces and degrade plasma confinement. Certain topological properties of the magnetic field strength can suppress these drifts.

Reactor-scale stellarators with force and torque minimized dipole coils
In this work, we utilize new coil objectives for stellarator optimization with autodifferentiation, including pointwise and net coil–coil forces and torques. We use these methods to perform the first large-scale optimization of planar dipole coil arrays,

Some results of stellarator optimization
The collisionless confinement of all reflected particles with orbits that star within the inner half of the plasma of a stellarator with the poloidal direction of the contours of the magnetic field strenght B is shown computationally to be possible.
