Identification of Novel Associations of Candidate Genes with Resistance to Late Blight in Solanum tuberosum Group Phureja

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2017
The genetic basis of quantitative disease resistance has been studied in crops for several decades as an alternative to R gene mediated resistance.

Transplantation of Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor-Expressing Adult Oligodendrocyte Precursor Cells Promotes Remyelination and Functional Recovery after SpinalCord Injury [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Demyelination contributes to the dysfunction after traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI). We explored whether the combination of neurotrophic factors and transplantation of adult rat spinal cord oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) could enhance ...

Modeling and Verification of 1/f Noise Mechanisms in FAPbBr3 Single‐Crystal X‐Ray Detectors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstratethat surface‐trap‐induced carrier number fluctuations are the dominantmechanism in FAPbBr3 Schottky devices, a conclusion supported by thedistinct defect profiles revealed by Drive‐Level Capacitance Profiling (DLCP). Throughnoise contribution decomposition, it is found that the 1/f noise of thedetector is the key noise source affecting ...

Stem blight of eggplant caused by Fusicoccum aesculi Corda.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Phytopathology, 2003
A new disease of eggplant was found in greenhouses in Kochi Prefecture, Japan in 1996. Numerous black pycnidia were produced on brown lesions that developed from the cut surface of lateral shoots. Pycnidia were ostiolate, subglobose to pyriform, and averaged 301×248μm.

Hierarchical Fluorinated Polymer Separator Design Mitigating Bilateral Ionic Crosstalk in Aqueous Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Aqueous zinc‐ion batteries suffer from rapid decay under practical conditions due to bilateral Zn2+/Mn2+ ionic crosstalk, a system‐level failure mechanism. We develop a hierarchical fluorinated polymer separator that regulates ion fluxes and stabilizes both electrodes simultaneously. This strategy enables extended cycle life while maintaining capacity,

Challenges and Strategies for Breeding Resistance in Capsicum annuum to the Multifarious Pathogen, Phytophthora capsici

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
Phytophthora capsici is the most devastating pathogen for chile pepper production worldwide and current management strategies are not effective. The population structure of the pathogen is highly variable and few sources of widely applicable host ...

Testing of pear trees on their own roots in comparison with important used rootstocks under organic farming conditions with special regard to fire blight (E. amylovora) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Pear trees on their own roots are tested in comparison to grafted trees in growth and yield characteristics and with special regard to the tolerance to diseases, above all fire blight (Erwinia amylovora).

Alternaria alternata Causing Flower Stem Blight of Lupinus havardii

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2001
Lupinus havardii Wats., commonly known as Big Bend or Chisos bluebonnet, is a showy winter annual that can reach 1.0 to 1.5 m in height and produces blue, fragrant inflorescence (racemes). L. havardii is native to a narrow geographic range along the Mexican border in southwest Texas. The inflorescence of L.
