Sustainable Ammonia Electrosynthesis Coupled With Glycerol Valorization via an Adaptive Tri‐Component Catalyst

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
A Cu‐Ni‐W tri‐component catalyst enables efficient nitrate‐to‐ammonia conversion under pulsed electrolysis. Combined experimental and theoretical studies attribute its performance to component synergism and regulated intermediates. Its facile adaptation for glycerol valorization to formic acid underscores a versatile system design concept, advancing ...

Historical and recent advances in genetic and genomic research on gummy stem blight in watermelon

open access: yesAcademia Molecular Biology and Genomics
Gummy stem blight (GSB) is one of the most important fungal diseases of cucurbits (watermelons, cucumbers, melons, pumpkin, and squash) in the United States. GSB is caused by the fungal pathogen Didymella bryoniae (syn.

Differential Susceptibility of Nine Cucurbit Species to the Foliar Blight and Crown Canker Phases of Gummy Stem Blight [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2014
Eighteen cucurbit cultivars representing five genera, nine species, and 17 horticultural types were inoculated with Didymella bryoniae in field plots in Charleston, SC, in autumn 2008, autumn 2009, and spring 2011 to determine susceptibility to gummy stem blight.

Rapid RASER MRI

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Rapid RASER MRI allows for image acquisition without RF excitation. Instead, a population inversion on the nuclear spins is generated by SABRE hyperpolarization, which allows for self‐excitation through the RASER approach. When the desired transverse magnetization is built‐up, conventional EPI encoding is triggered to record the image.

Oospores of Phytophthora infestans in soil provide an important new source of primary inoculum in Finland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
There have been numerous indications since the 1990s that oospore-derived primary infections play an increasing role in the epidemiology of potato late blight.
