Interactive Groupwise Comparison for Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
The standard RLHF uses pairwise comparisons and therefore requires a large number of comparisons leading to a high workload. The comparison pairs are suggested by the system and cannot be chosen by the user. Our RLHF approach provides more agency to the user and demands less work: we leverage the user's visual abilities to effectively explore the ...

Mixed Super‐Circles

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We introduce mixed super‐circles, a position‐curvature formulation of the original dynamic 2D super‐helix model. Compared to the latter, purely curvature‐based model – the so‐called chained formulation –, the mixed formulation that we propose here drastically reduces the algorithmic complexity of the solving scheme – from quadratic to quasi ...

‘I like to dance with the flowers!’: Exploring the possibilities for biodiverse futures in an urban forest school

open access: yesChildren &Society, EarlyView.
Abstract This article explores the ways in which ‘forest school’, an educational approach where children engage in creative and play based activities in a ‘natural’ environment, can contribute towards Sustainable Development Goal 15 (SDG 15) by promoting sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems and by helping address biodiversity loss. Drawing on data

Strategic Implications of Board Interlocks: A Literature Review and Future Research Agenda

open access: yesCorporate Governance: An International Review, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Research Question/Issue Board interlocks, stemming from directors' concurrent board appointments, have been viewed as a double‐edged sword that can generate both positive and negative effects, hinging on strategic outcomes and a multitude of contextual variables.

Risk premia reconsidered: Illiquidity and selection bias for stocks and corporate bonds in the pre‐First World War period

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, EarlyView.
Abstract Financial history is plagued by a visibility trap. Using the Brussels Stock Exchange (1850–1913), we demonstrate that asset illiquidity introduced selection bias, which systematically inflated historical risk premia. Applying a latent return model, we argue that correcting for this illiquidity decreases the equity and corporate bond risk ...

Leaders Are Somethin' Else: Behavioural Variation Associated With Roles During Tandem Running Recruitment

open access: yesEthology, EarlyView.
In this study, we found moderate to strong repeatabilities in behavioural variables measuring the personality traits: activity, aggressiveness and exploration. Similarly, the probability of acting as a leader during tandem running in an emigration event was moderately (R = 0.469) repeatable.
