Stem-cell transplantation in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia: A prospective international multicenter trial comparing sibling donors with matched unrelated donors-The ALL-SCT-BFM-2003 trial.

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Oncology, 2015
PURPOSE Although hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation is widely performed in children with high-risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), the influence of donor types is poorly understood. Thus, transplantation outcomes were compared in the prospective

Self‐Doped and Biodegradable Glycosaminoglycan‐PEDOT Conductive Hydrogels Facilitate Electrical Pacing of iPSC‐Derived Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 9, April 4, 2025.
The electrical properties and performance of conductive hydrogels based on sulfated‐glycosaminoglycan‐PEDOT (poly 3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) brush copolymers is studied, showing that the higher sulfation degree of heparin confers hydrogels with the highest conductivity.

Replicator Dynamics of of Cancer Stem Cell; Selection in the Presence of Differentiation and Plasticity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Stem cells have the potential to produce lineages of non-stem cell populations (differentiated cells) via a ubiquitous hierarchal division scheme. Differentiation of a stem cell into (partially) differentiated cells can happen either symmetrically or asymmetrically. The selection dynamics of a mutant cancer stem cell should be investigated in the light

Engineering Assembloids to Mimic Graft‐Host Skeletal Muscle Interaction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops a graft‐host skeletal muscle assembloid model combining neuromuscular organoids with tissue‐engineered constructs. Pre‐seeding decellularized muscles with myogenic cells enhances cell migration and axon invasion from the organoid. The model exhibits regenerative capacity following acute damage, advancing the understanding of human ...

Comparison between different reduced intensity conditioning regimens in AML/MDS patients in a Latin American center of adult stem cell transplantation

open access: yesHematology
Background: Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a curative treatment for several hematological diseases. Prospective and retrospective studies have associated myeloablative conditioning regimens with increased non-relapse ...

Nonparametric competing risks analysis using Bayesian Additive Regression Trees (BART) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Many time-to-event studies are complicated by the presence of competing risks. Such data are often analyzed using Cox models for the cause specific hazard function or Fine-Gray models for the subdistribution hazard. In practice regression relationships in competing risks data with either strategy are often complex and may include nonlinear functions of
